Tape is awesome if it's dry, but has consistently come unraveled when conditions get wet. I had to unwrap, dry out, spray with 3M 77 Spray Adhesive (what I used to spray tack my numbers for time trials) to get it to stick.
If you are considering this tape, do not hesitate! It has the perfect grippytacky texture I like, and it holds up really well over time. Easy to clean. Will never go back to cork tape or any other product.
Great bar tape! Easy to wrap, looks and feels awesome!
Aside from a tendency to loosen if not wrapped with some tension (contrary to instructions) only problem has been rapid deterioration of material behind right shiftbrake lever (area of highest wear). Worn areas provide less cushion where most needed.
This is a great bar tape. Top price, but well worth it. I won't buy anything else for the bike I ride for long distances.
I put this on my main road bike and have started to ride more and more with no gloves on since it feels so good.
I really like the tacky feel on my hands. It seems like it will be durable over the long haul. Pricey, but since it looks and feels great, I can't complain.
Best bar tape I have ever used. Easy to install. Tape is very comfortable.
Feels good in the hands, looks good when new. Came highly recommended by a local bike mechanic.
Unfortunately, I found it nearly impossible to keep clean, since Lizard Skins says not to use soap or it will lose its tacky feeling. I've used Specialized Roubaix S-Wrap, Fizik tape and Prologo Doubletouch on various bikes, and all were much easier to clean (dish soap or auto upholstery cleaner) and considerably cheaper.
In addition, the end plugs provided by Lizard Skins tend to fall out of the bar (Prologo's two-piece plugs are the best I've found).
I have used many tapes in my cycling career, but this is the best so far. It is a bit more pricey then the other ones, but I think its worth every penny. Goes on easy ,looks great, and is easy to keep clean, due to its rubbery texture.
Beats the stock tape hands down. It has decent cushioning and a good feel. Tape is long so no need to stretch it all the way out. White shows dirt quickly but what did you expect.
As handlebar tape goes, it was not an inexpensive product. At first it looked very nice on the bike but I was surprised at how fast the top surface wore through above the brake hoods. I had only had the tape on for less then two months before it started to fail.
While this tape does do a nice job of providing a soft surface it is impossible to keep clean and has no abrasion resistance. Your hands wear the outer covering off leaving white foam exposed. Wear gloves and it is even worse. This is the worst bar tape I have ever used.
Handlebar tape, nice texture and feeling.
This is great stuff. It is expensive but durable and seems to last longer than regular bar tape. Dampens the road vibrations with my hands and it is grippy. This is my new favorite bar tape. I formally used S-wrap Roubaix. This stuff seems to be more resistant to dirt and is longer lasting. Doesn't clean up as well as I'd hoped which is its one flaw. I feel like it is worth the extra money though I do recommend getting it on sale if possible. Also, there is no need for scissors. They give you just enough tape. You do not have the luxury to make a mistake in wrapping the bar. There is no margin for error.
Have used lizard skin bar tape for the last 1500 miles. It does a good job of dampening road vibrations especially on chip seal roads. Better than S works or Fizik tape. It is also easier to install than other handlebar tape. It is hard to keep clean and does tear easy. Dish soap seems to work best when cleaning.
Love this stuff you don't need gloves. A little expensive but worth it
Lizard Skins is now the only bar tape I'll use. It gives reasonable cushioning, the stickinessgrip is great and it looks wonderful on the bike. I really love this stuff!
I absolutely love Lizard Skins DSP Handlebar Tape. I have it on 3 of my bikes (entertaining a 4th) and I don't think I will ever go with another. I've tried cork tape, and fizik, and they both don't give the same grip or texture quite like the Lizard Skins. It also is one of the easiest to save and rewrap! even after its been on for months!
Really nice and shock aborbing and grippy.
