Welcome to TriSports
Seton and Debbie Claggett started TriSports in Tucson, AZ in 1999. Working out of their home, they laid the foundation for what would become the largest online triathlon retailer in the United States. They've been dedicated to the community of multisport and endurance athletes ever since.
In 2009, Gary Wallesen and his partners took over Athletes Lounge in Portland, OR. Gary created a space that wasn't just a store - it was a training hub for local triathletes and a place to connect with each other. Gary hosted product demos, sponsored athletes, and held training sessions, carving out a space for the Pacific Northwest triathlon community to flourish.
Gary had watched TriSports's online operation for years, and knew he needed an online presence, but didn't have the resources to do it by himself. Through a meeting with the management team at Velotech, owners of BikeTiresDirect and WesternBikeworks, the concept of AthletesLounge.com was created. A year later, Seton was forced to consider the possibility of closing TriSports as the company struggled with bank troubles. Seton and Gary connected in Portland and discussed their shared vision for the triathlon community - the best selection of gear offered through online retail, combined with a local home base and training resources. Velotech was able to acquire the TriSports brand and merge Athletes Lounge; we hope to bring the same passion for sport, knowledge of product, and personalized attention that Seton and Debbie gave to the triathlon community.
