
I like gels because they are easy and quick !
GU Energy Gels are a great energy supplement. I do as they suggest 1, 5 min. before the ride and another at 45 min into the ride or 1 hr. Been using them for 20 yrs & have yet to bonk if I stay properly hydrated. Any flavor you like will work equally.
GU Energy Gels are my "go to" energy boost...and have been for the past 27 years.
They give me boost with in 5 minutes which will last for 30 minutes (20 years ago the boost lasted 45 minutes but not now, age does change things) and then it's time to hit the GU again.
Water and GU Energy Gels are my necessity for rides.
These sweet and taste how they sound. I find on longer activities over (3 hours) the gu becomes a bit too sweet. I generally use these as part of a nutrition plan and not by itself. I have rebought the product

Gels are very useful during bicycle rides. They are a good source of protein. They get what you need into your system quickly.
Taste is subjective, but out of Clif, Honey Stinger, Hammer and GU, this is probably my favorite coffee flavored gel. Leaves no crazy after taste and gives you quick energy without a crash.

WOW! Not only does Gu taste amazing, it also keeps me feeling extremely strong during my races. I always need a good caffeine boost in the middle of races to get me to the end of a hard race, and this gel does the job. I love the variety of flavors that are offered, and this will be an item I continue to use
It doesn't matter how well I eat or how hydrated I am, I'm exhausted after work and the commute home is sometimes awful. If I use Gu and a little bit of water and/or coffee I'm generally able to power through. It's not a guarantee, but I feel much better climbing hills after being on my feet all day.

I use a variety of different flavors. This new Lemon flavor is one of my favorites. I will reorder this one as long as it is offered. If you like a non-tart lemon flavor you should give this one a try.
Used the Gu gels with caffeine for a 300 mile gravel race that started at midnight. These were great to keep me going just before sunup when I know my body would come back to life. Great flavor with a caffeine punch in a small easy to carry size.
First tried these at an aid station while riding a century. They've been my favorite gel since then. Why? They digest easily, come in a multitude of tasty flavors, and give amino acids, carbs, and even caffeine if you want or need it. I always start with one prior to riding and use one each hour if riding , when not munching on 'real' food.
Tip: use the GU Roctane gel for harder climbs or longer rides. Easy on the stomach, easy to carry, and easy to use while en route. .
These gels are cheap, and easily fit in jersey pockets. 2 of these per hour plus hydration does the trick, even on long rides (although you might want to mix it up with real food now and then).
They work at a comparatively good price.
As suggested,15 minutes before a ride & 45 minutes into it. Has proved to be an energy fueled guaranteed,bicycle ride consistently. With proper hydration & one or two packs in my jersey pocket has been a terrific formula. I have a runner friend who also swears by using GU energy gels during her runs. I take them along with a Power Bar & cheese sticks in my jersey pockets.
