I bought a second one in a different color. I have been using Aeon for the last couple of years and been extremely happy with all aspects of it. I have not crashed with it to report on its structure but have done so with it predecessor and it literally gave up its life for me. The pads are shaped and placed properly and direct the stream of sweat to the middle front. Ventilation is one of the critical elements of a helmet for me and Aeon does provide the required stream through the helmet without sacrificing the structure of the helmet. I have a big head and the large size is a great fit. I highly recommend it.
What's not to like? It's very light. Vented well for my tastes. And it works. I know bc I had an Aeon that protected my mellon in a serious crash. My head bounced on the road, about the temple area. Helmet cracked all the way through in 2 places...doing it's job!! Maybe a slight headache at the worst.
So, I needed a replacement and considered other options. But decided to get another Aeon, bc it's light, looks cool, and it worked for me. Hard to argue wthat. A little bulbous, but easily overlooked considering how nice it is to ride wit. Barely notice it's there, then when called into action, it works..(I may have said that already)
This helmet is so lightweight I don't even feel it on my head. Often while riding I have to touch my head to make sure I have it on and didn't forget to wear it. Not sure how it will fair in a crash it is so light weight but I hope to never find out. The only thing they could have done to improve this is unsnapping the fasteners takes applying some pressure. It could be made easier to unsnap the lock. I think over time this will become easier from simple usage. If you want to feel like you're riding without a helmet but with protection this item is a must buy. Trust the reviews on this site, most people give it 5 stars and that is what it deserves.
I initially saw another cyclist wearing this helmet at a Bike MS ride this summer. I thought this helmet color would work great with my carbon Bianchi bike. It matches close enough to give a good contrast with my bike. I actually found the Giro cycling gloves which matches this helmet locally that puts it all together. The professional styling of the helmet looks great and the fit is very good.
Light, airy, fits well, looks good. Crashed on the side of my head with it (string across polls grabbed and held and dropped me like a rock) and this most def did save my head. It dented but didnt crack or split so its well put together. Only CON is hey dont have a return warranty for crashed like Bontrager and other helmet within the first year. And this didnt have MIPS. But it performed perfectly.
This is a great helmet for the hot, humid summer days we experience here in SE Virginia. It has excellent ventilation, it's light and the large size fits my 59cm head quite nicely. However, after three outings I've noticed an odd quirk - a strange, whistling or humming sound. I'm not sure what to call it. A wind tunnel effect? There is something about the configuration of the lower side openings that channels the moving air in such a way as to produce a sometimes annoying whistling sound. At other times it's a low moan, like a cold wind in the winter time on the beach. I haven't been able to tune it out yet. Perhaps over time I'll be able to, but for now it's a bit of a bother.
Likes - Lightweight and cool on a hot day. It is amazingly easy to adjust and is very comfortable. Dislikes - None
Exclusively road riding, it's warm here and my neck is ruined so having a super light helmet that's also very airy is great. Saving the 40 grams from my last helmet is definitely noticeable. Plus the on-sale price was unbelievable! I really like it!
I have been a big fan of Giro helmets over the years. I have three of these Aeon helmets and they are very light and well ventilated. Giro sizes are consistent and seem to always fit well. In addition, I had a recent crash that resulted in a shoulder fracture and a bump on my head. The helmet held up well and no injury to my head. Thank you Giro. Highly recommended.
Always have had a great fit for my melon with Giro, starting with the original Ventoux(which got busted in a road race). Here to talk about it. Retention system, Roc Loc 5, easily adjustable even with cold weather gloves. Great ventilation hot days and adjusts to accommodate a head band or skull cap in cold weather.
ExcellentSuper Light weight.large vent for cooling.great price.so I bought another.
Like appearance, weight, fit and comfort, light weight, paint, value. Don't like nothing
Great fit, sits nicely on head, yet provides plenty of ventilation. Great fit adjustment for straps.
Easy to adjust and fits fine. Needs more padding on the front-forehead but I'll work on it. Great price and delivery.
Its the perfect helmet light and well ventilated. Highly recommended!
Light, well ventilated and comfortable, the look is too wide, a little mushroom-like. The cost is average for a helmet this light, good deal when on discount. Helmets are generally overpriced anyways.
I am replacing an Atmos helmet that I have had for years. The Atmos was a great helmet, but I recently broke it against a tree. It did its job very well. I was looking at Lazer helmets, but after seeing how the Giro held up and saved my head, I decided to stay with the same brand again.
I have heard some of the Roc Loc's have broken and they don't look as stout as my older series adjuster, but overall the fit and finish is great. I'll see how the adjuster holds up. So far I've used the helmet 18-20 times and have not had any issues. It has been plenty cold here this winter, and I can tell the ventilation of this helmet is going to rock this summer.
Good helmet very light also many vents . Really the right stuff for warm weather
I got the highlight yellow in large. I have a fairly large head and not all helmet brands will fit me. This one has enough room for a winter cap. Comfort and visibility are great. Ventilation seems good, but I haven't had any hot days to put it to the test. The adjustment dial is easy to use even with heavy winter gloves on. I got mine during a sale and it was much cheaper than competitors helmets, so it was an easy choice.
Super vented and light weight. A helmet you don't realize you are wearing while riding.
