Fizik’s Aliante R3 Versus EVO Saddle is a light and flexible performance road saddle made for “Bull” riders. According to Fizik’s Spine Concept EVO, a saddle selection system, Bull riders have low flexibility and high pelvic rotation while pedaling, requiring a waved saddle for optimal support, power generation, and comfort. In addition to its waved profile, this saddle features a full-length pressure relief channel that alleviates pressure on sensitive soft tissue and properly distributes the rider’s weight across the saddle. Comfort core foam padding beneath a Light Microtex cover ensures lasting comfort. The 7mm k:ium rails combined with a carbon reinforced shell deliver lightness and durability while the integrated clip system offers mounting versatility.

The Fizik Arione R3 offers comfort and performance for flexible riders who prefer more aggressive riding positions. Its long 300 mm length allows for plenty of movement to find the optimum position in any situation, whether on the nose for fast flat efforts or at the back when spinning up a hill. A Wingflex design provides optimized rider support while still allowing flexibility at the edges to prevent interference with the pedal stroke, and it's weatherproof and durable with a thermo-welded Microtex cover, fiberglass-reinforced nylon base, and chromoly rails.

Not as comfortable as my R5

My Canyon Endurace came with an R5 Aliante, and it is actually the only truly comfortable saddle I've ever ridden in my 50 years on the road. I bought the R3 Versus model to replace a Bontrager Paradigm on my turbo trainer bike that just wasn't working. The R3 Versus is somewhat better, but let's face it, I can't imagine ever being truly comfortable on the trainer.

change not for the better

I realize saddles are a very personal component so it may work for others. It's not for me. I will try to give an honest assessment. I have only ridden on this saddle twice. I am older and I realize that my body is changing. That being a given, I rode my first century in 1970 and I still ride 8 thousand miles a year. So, I like to think I know a little something. I have ridden on the older Fizik Aliante versus saddles and I liked them a bunch. They gave me no problems at all. This newer version sucks. I'm not a big guy so maybe my sit bones are too narrow for the Regular size. I felt as if I was sitting on the hard center pressure relief channel that's made of hard nylon? Very uncomfortable. I spent most of my second ride standing on the pedals. The saddle was lucky I didn't have a gun.
