I've used a lot of different bar tape, but when I needed a tape with cush and non-slip for cross season, I decided to try the Zipp Service Course. I taped my bars and started the cross season with comfort, no slip on some wet races and low and behold, No numbness!
Instantly I bought another set for my SSCX bike, I'm hooked!
I wanted to like this tape. Nice and grippy, thicker than the Lauf OEM tape it was replacing. Which was shredded from my partner's death grip. Wrapped easily. Bike fell over in driveway. Something every other bar tape I have ever used (Cinelli and no-name tapes) would shrug off. This tape took a huge gouge. Very disappointing. Going back to Cinelli.
Easy to wrap, and long enough for 44cm bars. Nice grip, and has a durable feel to it. Time will tell how well it holds up, and I haven't tried it in damp conditions yet, but after a few rides and about 150 miles, the Zipp Service Course tape seems like a new favorite for me.
I started using this on my CX bike, but loved the feel so much I put it on my road bike as well. It's got just the right amount of cushion and grip in any condition. For the price (middle of the road) it's hard to beat. Very durable as well. I swap my road bike indoors for riding Zwift when the weather is not cooperating and this tape seems to last at least a year for me.
I've had this Zipp bar tape on my road bike for 10 months and around 5,000 miles. It doesn't have a lot of padding but man, this stuff looks brand new after months and months of long rides! I'm ordering a 2nd set and will just wrap over the 1st set once it starts showing wear, to get a little more cushion. I've tried most of the other bar tapes out there with varying degrees of success. I love the looks and the wear of the Zipp tape!
