I've been riding with Shimano dual power meters (two bikes) for almost ten years. Never really needed the dual, since my power was essentially the same. It was an expensive choice that didn't add much, if any, value. Third bike was a SRAM spider power meter mount, it was great, but I think the cost was around $400. This is just as good, but not nearly as much money. As long as it holds up, it will be the best value power meter I've purchased in ten years. 4 stars only because I've only had it two months.
Bikesdirect was fast and easy to use. Pedals were on the bike, setup, and calibrated ready to ride within 20 minutes. Data seems perfectly accurate. My outdoor testing is within 2-3W of my bests on the indoor trainer across multiple efforts from 2-12 minutes, and heart rate tracks perfectly with my indoor data and power numbers. No issues with sounds as I saw in other reviews. I charged them fully before installing them the first time and they are still holding medium battery after roughly 40hrs of riding time. I would definitely buy these and use bikesdirect again in the future.
I bought these pedals to get power number while I ride my gravel bike. I have Shimano SPD cleats and these work just fine with them. So far I've ridden my gravel bike with these pedals a total of 6 rides in 1. 5months. Three of those rides were on gravel and the other three were just riding around town. These pedals connected very quickly to my Garmin 1030 and they stay connected - no drops or connection issues so far after stopping and starting mid-ride. I'm not a huge fan of the app but luckily you only need to use that during initial setup and whenever you want to update firmware which I do not plan to do more than once every quarter. I haven't had to charge them yet after 8-9 hours of riding on them. I wouldn't def recommend these to folks who don't have the budget to purchase the dual sides pedals.
The crank installation was easy with only one special tool required. You can find lots of videos on line about replacing a crank and it was a simple process. Once the crank was on, I zeroed it out and went for a ride. I love the fact that it also replaced my cadence sensor so now my bike has a much cleaner look since you can't even tell that there is a power meter on the crank. A huge upside to this purchase is that it also connects to apple find my devices so it takes the place of adding an apple tag with the added advantage that this crank will not alert somebody that there is an apple tag. Lots of videos on how to modify a tag to add to your bike, but this product has it already done for you! It connected easily to my Garmin and gives a great read out of my power. The battery is a bit weird to change now that they added a child protective feature, but you can watch their video on how to remove it. You have to go through a pairing process that requires removing and re-installing the battery several times.
