Had higher hopes than what I got. For starters, I expected a glove that had "arenberg" in title to have thicker padding. I have a pair of corsa rosso road fingerless gloves and the padding between to two is a bit similar. I had bought these with the purpose of using them cool weather gravel. To that effect my dainty hands were not quite as comfortable as I hoped. Another shortcoming is the snot strip. It's suede rather than fleece and thus not very good. The grip is decent but they made no effort to add touch screen compatibility. Considering how bike computers are heading in that direction whether we like it or not this would make it tough to adjust things let alone check your phone without taking off your gloves. I'll give these gloves credit for being gloves and better than nothing for shoulder season. I'm hoping as they break in the sharpness in the fabric between the thumb and first finger will soften.
My 3rd pair of Assos bibs (3 different models), so it's certain I'm a fan of their products. I'm 6'0' / 137 lbs / pretty old. I've gone with medium in GT Mille bibs before. I really like the fit and compression of the mid thickness Lycra and the mid length (lower than most bibs) front panel (easier than most for quick urination break). These have a similar fit (again I like the compression) but a thinner (summer weight) Lycra. The chamois is different / thinner than Mille GT series but still quite comfortable (the longer the ride the more I'd choose thicker chamois). The leg length is better for me, but I wouldn't consider it long (more like normal in other brands). A go to summer bib.
This helmet fits my oddly shaped oblong head perfectly. I'm able to adjust it and cinch it down so it fits snugly with or without a balaclava. I crashed on black ice last winter commuting to work and bounced my head backwards striking the curb. The dent in the helmet is a reminder of how important riding with a helmet that fits well really is. I wouldn't be writing this if not for this helmet and I'll forever know the value of a quality helmet.
I've found these tights very versatile when cycling in the high 30s (F) and into the 50s. They've kept me warm in the high 30s (as cold as I've worn them), are breathable preventing that clammy, sweaty feeling, and have been comfortable in the 50s without overheating. I wear them over padded cycling shorts. I like the elastic waist tie, although the waistband is secure without it.
The only minor negative for me is that they seem a bit long for the waist size (XL). However, they're not long enough to return (better slightly long than slightly short), I'd buy them again (and probably will buy a second pair), and I'd recommend them to a friend.
These tights are a good find.
