I use this pedal throughout the PNW and in Europe. The main reason is that streets can be steep and wet which makes it difficult for an older rider. I ride these pedals with Sidi MTB shoes on several different road or cross bikes so I don't worry about slipping nearly as much. I can cancel out the weight difference by diet alone. I love these pedals!
