Sprintech drop mirror is compact, great vision and a must for my riding. It helps me keep track of cars and riders behind me. I have been using this mirror for over 20 years...
I tried to use on my Bike. Had to destroy the end of my ergonomis handlebar grip to get the plug in. Couldn' t see cars coming from the rear despite repeated readjustment. Next the rubber insert tore on one side so the mirror flops. Now have ro replace my handlebar grip and still jo mirror. These were recommended I do notknow why.
This is by far the best mirror out there. I have had no issues and have over 6000 miles of use. I use this with my Garmin Varia and I have never felt so in tune with my surroundings. Highly recommended!!!!
I have been using the left bar end Sprintech mirror for over four years and 5000 miles. The light weight and aero profile has not hindered my fast rides. The mirror is very useful for quick glances while riding paceline over sketchy roads when one might need to move into the traffic lane or to see if you have dropped the slower rider attempting to ride in the draft for the first time. The plastic mirror surface is still in great shape.
The only down side is that I usually bump it with my leg or arm during stops but it takes only a simple grasp of the bar end with the mirror to place it quickly in position.
I have had two of these mirrors and they both lasted about four rides each (35 x 4 miles on paved roads with few bumps). I like the viewing and wish I could get them to work beyond the four rides each.
Easy to install and adjust. I have another, older model on a different bike. The ball-type adjustment became loose after a couple years but it's still very functional.
It took years to set aside my ego and start riding with a mirror. I have one of these on each of my 3 bikes and have been using them for about 5 years now. They easily detach and it's only when I head out with-out a mirror that I realize how much I use it.
The design is great, it is small enough to not be totally noticeable but big enough that a quick glance will tell me if I have traffic approaching.
Quite simply these are the best bar-end mirrors I've ever used. I've previously used two other brands, but both have considerable distortion. And, these other brands have finishes (the mirror) that are easily scratched.....hence my replacements. But, the last purchase was so distorted, although brand new, I decided to try these Swiss Made Sprintech mirrors. They're great!! Clarity is fantastic, no distortion, so a better rear view of on-coming traffic. Also, the mirrors are less convex than the other brands, so you get a more realistic rear view of traffic approaching you. Too early to tell whether they'll hold up for scratch resistance. Nevertheless, visibility is 100% better, so don't waste your money on the other brands.
I have been cycling for over 15 years. I guess I forgot why I do not like mirrors when I bought this. For me I think it is best that I put all my effort in looking behind me. I was on a century ride when I glanced over my shoulder and looked pretty hard in the mirror and pulled in front of a pickup truck. Thank God they were watching me and did not hit me. It was during the day but if car has lights on they are easy to see other wise it is a crap shoot. I will just take the extra seconds to really really look instead of using any mirror.
You are not that 'PRO' to be seen using one of these. Vision is great if YOUR vision is good, don't blame it on the convex shape. This mirror has saved me from many close calls. My first set of these had a better mirror, I purchased them in Germany. You can use the right drop mirror on your left drop with zero problems(for US roads)- I've done this with my winter bike.
This might be plastic but it still does a good job. Just be careful and don't use a paper towel when cleaning this, Use a soft rag. I like knowing what is coming up from my rear when riding on the road.
Got them, extremely easy to install and they are great!!! I love the fact that I can see behind me and I don't have to have a helmet mirror or anything like that!
I will recommend this item to anyone!!
This mirror works great on my commuter and road bikes, its always there when I need it and very easy to unjust on the fly although stays put very well.
Best feature you have full view when in the drops. Your hand does not block out the traffic behind you (especially important while descending in my view). Adjustable is good.
Room for improvement? Glass would better than plastic. Over a short period of time fine lines appear on surface from cleaning lightly with soft rag/glass cleaner to remove smudges.
I use this product on my left side bar end only. My 10 mile lap course that I use is all right hand turns, but I deviate occasionally and that is when this mirror is most useful. The ability to see behind myself a distance allows me to time a left turn avoiding twisting my torso and torquing my handlebar causing abrupt left steer. I typically view this mirror until I am sure there is no gaining traffic behind me and then I necessarily check over my shoulder for traffic in my blind spot and, once clear, I veer slowly and carefully into a left hand turn. I like the shape and size of this mirror. If your bike is not in a completely dry storage place these mirrors can freckle with little spots of corrosion. My first mirror lasted over five years. I recently ordered a new one to get back to a crisp and clear mirror and I won't ride without one of this great safety addition.
Very cheap adjustment . When I move it to where I need to see it falls out of the ball and socket . If it stuck out more then I could move it enough to where it would be usable. Also the mirror itself should be a little bigger. Guess the co wants to save money on plastic. Stay away from this piece of junk.
