Well-constructed with tight stitching, wind-resistant, relatively light and compressible, somewhat tightrestrictive in the chest area, price is only major negative the mark-up must be extraordinary for an item made with cheap Chinese labor!

Works well, a bit small

It works great, nicely made. I found the sizing a bit small compared to a previous SP jacket, but fine none the less for me. The zipper is on the girly side, I am not sure why that might be, but combined with the smaller than expected sizing, I think maybe mistakes were made. The tag does say men's

I've been wearing this jacket in weather between 35 and 50 F since I got it in January. I have zero complaints. Fit is great and the features all work as advertised.

6'-4, 230 lbs. Room for layers underneath.

Would love to know why zipper is backwards from typical male coats.

Zipper pulls could be larger.

I use this as an outer shell in the winter. The weather in North Carolina allows for year round riding, as long as you have proper gear to protect you. This jacket works very well for my application

I've been cycling since March 2011 as my main transportation. First cycling jacket I purchased was the Netti D4 that was waterproof for a few months and excellent for single digit temperatures. Like I said for a few months it was waterproof and no longer is the insides of the jacket started to fall apart. Jackets Junk.

This Showers Pass Elite 2.1 Jacket I purchased so I have a waterproof upper body cover. From how the inside was designed I'm sure this will last as a true waterproof cycling jacket compared to the Netti D4 that falls apart on the inside. I like how much the wrist area can be velcroed tight or snugged. For the waist the left and right side can be tightened to make the bottom more snugged so less to no air flow throw the bottom of the jacket.

This jacket is much warmer then I imagined it would be which is a plus for when I try it out during winter use.

Well-built high quality jacket

This jacket is very well-built and is designed with the cyclist in mind. For example, the jacket is extremely flexible and does not restrict body motion. Additionally, there are reflective strips sewed onto the jacket for better visibility.

I commute to work in all kinds of weather and this jacket is awesome. Does well with blocking the wind, rain, and keeping me warm and dry. Love all the small details that showers pass added to the jacket....waterproof zippers, light holder on back of jacket, etc.

I did hear back from the folks at SP and they are pretty cool. They also offered to replace the coat if it did not meet my expectations. No questions asked. Nice. As Theo mentions they intended the reflector strips to be quite subdued so when you are off the bike you blend a bit better. Not a fail then. Apologies to them. Now given that personally I'm keeping my coat for the positives and I find the lack of reflective strips to not be a significant issue. YMMV. If you are a duskdawn commuter consider some more lights. Than again you likely are not wearing black so perhaps a non issue. Gotta rate again so I will add a star. Make it two. Fast response and offer to replace deserves credit.

Thanks for the update. We're glad to hear that things have worked out and that you had a good experience with Showers Pass. We've found them to be great about warranty issues as well as repairs.

The subdued reflective strips on the black jacket are certainly a plus for some, but we agree that riders who are looking to increase visibility in darker conditions should not rely solely on this jacket for visibility. Red rear lights are great for being seen (and, in Oregon, for example, a legal requirement). One might also consider one of the other colors of the Elite 2.1 Jacket if visibility is a primary requirement.

Thanks

Fabric behind zipper gets caught in zipper

I had the Elite 2.0 and loved everything about it but needed to get a new one in a smaller size. The only difference I can see between the two models is the front zipper. While it is easier to zip, the fabric behind the zipper gets caught around the neck when I'm trying to unzip it. Not a big deal if I'm off the bike, but it takes two hands to unzip, so it's not that convenient while riding. Chances are I just got an oddly cut jacket, I'd still buy another one in a heartbeat. Love Showers Pass!!!

Very nice, lightweight jacket. Room to layer for the cold rain and snow at 9500 feet in Colorado. Glad to have it! Get the goldenrod to b as seen as possible.

Best jacket I've owned
by Seattle Nate

I have been an every-day cycle commuter for the past five years. I commute on my road bike, no fenders, and I live in Seattle so I deal with wet weather a lot. I had a Novara hard shell jacket that I bought at REI, but it had lost all semblance of rainproofiness. Seattle has a lot of hills, and I always seemed to steam up in my jacket on wet days riding up hills. I needed something waterproof and vented. From the reviews I have found online, this seemed the best. So far, so good. I still get a little damp heading uphill from sweat, but that is primary because I ride fast uphill with a backpack. This is much, much better than the rain jackets I have owned in the past.

Perfect jacket for Seattle weather

I have gone through 3 rain jackets with disappointing results - leaks, sweating, uncomfortable. I heard good things about this one, bit the bullet and ordered one. I got the 2.0 rather than the pro because I wanted a bit more warmth in our perpetual cool drizzle. I was not disappointed. It is by far the best jacket I have used. It keeps me dry and breaths beautifully. It is not cheap but is a good value. A co-worker just bought one and is equally enthusiastic. Great job Showers Pass.

Sturdy, well-constructed, and thoughtfully designed rain jacket

I purchased this on sale for 50 percent off, but it is really worth the retail price! Fabric is substantial and definitely waterproof. Seams are well-constructed and sealed. The fabric is highly breathable for slower rides in the rain, but not sure how well it will breathe under higher intensity riding conditions. Looking forward to many dry rainy rides in the years to come with this jacket...

Water and wind proof. I like the vents. It's kind of heavy, one would like to see front pockets in a jacket that is less race and more a tour jacket. I also don't like how small the zippers are on all the jackets now.

The best rain jacket I have ever owned!

I live on the Olympic Peninsula of WA state where we get plenty of rain showers. I am in a ride group of cyclists who bike three to four times a week year round rain or shine. About half of the 16-20 riders have this Jacket. I just had to have one also. It keeps me dry, is breatheable, fits well ( 5' 2 120 female) size M, room enough for wool base layer and light fleece.

The only downside is that it does not have an attached rain hood, and the hood is extra. It is a spendy jacket but worth it right now as it is new and I really baby it. Time will tell if it holds up in the long run. I do extended bike touring so will see how it holds up being taken in and out of paineers. I carefully roll it and put it in a cloth bag to prevent wear shoving it into a pack.

Would like to hear from other users about how often they wash theirs. Solution used, and any spray used afterwards?
