I had to connect two of these chains together to properly fit my Sun Seeker recumbent tricycle. I had to remove some links from one of the chains to attain the right number of links. After installing the chain on my trike's drivetrain, I tried using the master link provided to connect the chain ends. Well, it just didn't work. I've used master links in the past and never had any problem, but not so with this chain. I followed the enclosed directions precisely. I ended up having to use a chain tool to partially push out a couple pins and then reinserting the pins with the chain tool to connect the chain ends together. After that was done, the chain works great.
Wore out old 8 speed chain. Replaced with same Shimano CN-HG71
It works with no issues.
