I bought this product to slow down a thief if I accidently left the garage door open. It's a well made product with a secure lock. The material won't scratch your bike finish. The Airlok holds a road bike far enough out from the wall. The only negative is that this device (and the included mounting hardware) are designed to be installed on a concrete or brick wall. You can screw it into a stud, but you will need to supply the lag screws. Also, the two sides are abut 12 inches apart, so you can't mount both sides into typical studs that are set 16 inches apart. I screwed one side into a stud and used heavy duty drywall anchors for the other side. I think it is sufficiently secured to deter a thief that wants to quickly grab a bike and ride off, but the advertised security ratings are only if you are installing into a concrete wall with their included mounting hardware.
