The sizing of bib shorts has great variance between different brands. I was wavering between an L and an XL on these. I've found that many bib shorts' recommended sizes are tighter than I like, and XL was the only size available, so my decision was made for me. In these shorts, an L would be a better fit. The main area that I'm usually bothered by is when the crotch is too tight. However, these Gorewear shorts have the best design in this area that I've ever used. Since they are now going out of business, I hope that every other cycling apparel maker incorporates their design into their own shorts. The chamois is very nice. The fabric on these is soft and much nicer than on their cheaper lines. The upper straps do their job and disappear. If I ever get a chance to order these in a large size, I certainly will.
