Best Performing Jersey I Have

I have worn the Gore Element Thermo Jersey as the main component of a three part layering system in temperatures from 38 to 78 on the Chicago Bike Path, often in very windy conditions and it has really performed well. It keeps me warm, but more importantly, it is always the driest part of my gear when I take everything off. Sometimes it is a little damp, as I tend to overdress here in Chicago, but it is never wet. I recently wore it over a Gore polypropylene base layer, and nothing else as the temp was in the 70s, but in Chicago the cool winds from Lake Michigan are pretty relentless and you almost always need a jersey, even in the 70s. When I stopped for a break after an hour, approximately 13 miles, both Gore layers were only modestly damp, and they dried out almost immediately upon taking the break. If you can only have one jersey, I recommend this one. I originally bought the Gore Mountain Bike 2.0 jersey but when I returned it for size I couldn't find another one in my size at the time so I bought this one. It was cheaper, a slightly looser comfort fit, and pretty much the same material so win-win. The comfort fit is a plus, it allows for more options regarding base layers. You can wear just one, or double up with two, and it still feels fine. I am 5'11', with a 40-41 chest, and the XL fits perfectly. It is made of a push-pull material, so it is really comfortable and stretchy. Like all Gore Apparel, the quality and fit are top rate.

The fit is as advertised. The inside is fleece-like making it warm and very comfortable. The back pockets are big but accessible. With a baselayer underneath, I'm comfortable in the 40s.
