Very light helmet, well ventilated for hot summer rides, also like the dedicated holes for sunglasses holding.
I previously owned a Giro helmet with similar retention system so cannot really compare with other helmets. But for me the fit is perfect and knowing that the MIPS gives extra protection to the brain is reassuring.
little bit expensive but you can find good discount online.
Plan do a ride every morning before start my days activities .This helmet will keep me safe and cool with the nice air vents.!
Loving the matte black finish to the helmet. Also easily the lightest helmet I've ever had. Fit adjustment works great, and the MIPS seems like it would work. Really loving the sleek look that Giro puts out.
I use the Giro Synthe Daily. Looks good, breaths very well, total comfort, light weight, all good.
Yes for sure, I recommend the Synthe.
The helmet is light in weight with great ventilation. The fit is very comfortable with a great place to store your glasses. The one minor drawback is a somewhat difficult to work buckle.
Fit and feel of this helmet is great. Aero, but not too hot.
The reason I really love this helmet is that it saved me from a crash at 30mph. Downhill, sharp turn, wet leaves, into a wire fence, you know the scenario... Hit my head and didn't even know it until I saw the damage on the front of the helmet at the end of the ride. No concussion, no loss of consciousness, no head pain at all in fact. helmet smashed up on the front, but still intact. Ordering a new one again!
This is my second Synthe, as the first one did its job last year and kept me away from the neurosurgeons when a car took out our paceline (do NOT reuse a helmet that has been in a crash!)
I live where heat is an issue, which is why I bought the original helmet. The colors I ordered matched my then-bike well, and the design was not at all displeasing. Function with style. My noggin did not overheat, and even though I am a little follically challenged, no sunburns up there.
The straps are easy to adjust as is the dial adjuster in back. I race (amateur) and am pretty sure that the helmet is as aero as Giro claims it to be any marginal improvements other brands may make would certainly need someone much closer to the pro ranks to see enough of those gains to make a meaningful measurement.
As stated above the helmet served its purpose and saved my skull from a closer encounter with asphalt that it did have. I was so impressed with the helmet's performance before and during (in retrospect) the crash that I knew another was in my future. Now I have MIPS, so its even better! I don't have a $20 head, so I spend money on helmets.
Good crash protection, very aero, comfortable, and cool.
I've been using Giro helmets since the first model came out with the hairnet cover. At least two mountain bike helmets, a couple of Atmos, and now the Synthes followed.
I bought my first Synthe MIPS because it was so damn comfortable finally a helmet that fits!
I bought my second Synthe MIPS because when I crashed the first one very hard I had never felt a softer landing from a helmet (and Ive broken 4-5 over the years.)
Added plus I like the color (matte whitesilver) and I got it on sale. A whole-hearted recommendation.
This is definitely the best helmet I have owned. Very comfortable and nice looking.
Im a 9-10 hour a week rider that lives in the Hot, humid SE USA.
I wore two Giro Savant helmets over the last 4 years but recently decided to upgrade to the Synthe. I chose the Synthe because it seemed to have a cool, sleek, more modern feel to it, and the color choices were excellent to boot. After riding with this helmet daily for a few months now, I can say for certain that its awesomehowever, Im not sure Id purchase a helmet online again without trying it on in person since this helmet feels just slightly smaller than my old Savant did, even after adjusting both the rear dial and chin straps. That said, Id still recommend this helmet to anyone looking for a higher quality upgrade.
The design is awesome and better yet, customer service was top notch. Fast shipping and great prices.
My new Synthe replaced an older Giro helmet. About my fourth ride with it it was put to the test! I got hit by a school bus that was pulling out into the street (without noticing me). Though my head struck the pavement it did not sustain injury, though ribs and collar bone sustained some factures.
On the second ride after purchasing the Giro Synthe MIPS Helmet I had my first bad bike accident after riding for 30 years. I have a fractured humerus, lots of bumps and bruises but coming out with a few dents in my helmet knowing that I hit my head I had no head injuries or head ache. Giro thanks for building this miracle!!
I use this for road cycling and its superb. Being that I have a larger head (thanks mom) it doesnt look like a massive dome on my head. The fit is perfect and I don't even notice it's on my head. Love it!
I usually wear M in Giro helmets and this was true to size. It's comfortable and quiet. I prefer fewer vents for fewer yellowjackets and less sunburn (like Air Attack) but Giro was between aero helmet styles so I settled for this in order to have a freshly made helmet. EPS has a shelf life! I wish it had some quality reflective material. I added 3m SOLAS but it should come from the factory that way. The only negative is that my Tifosi Tyrant 2.0 absolutely will not stay locked in the vents, front or rear. I haven't tried it with other sunglasses because... These are the ones I have. Too bad I can't stow them on this helmet.
This is a nice helmet, it should be for $. While it is lighter than my old Scattante Spyder helmet it is not any cooler. I expected it to be at least a little cooler but the sweat still pours down my forehead like before. How much do I have to pay for helmet where this is no longer an issue?
Multiple color options. I chose blackorange for good visibility and still looks great. Also weight is light which is obviously good!
Excellent fit, comfort and cooling
Excellent comfort and safety! Helmet saved my head in a crash in June this year. I ended up with 5 broken ribs, punctured lung, and shattered hip. No head damage as helmet absorbed impact . I got the new mips version of the synthe but do not plan on any more crash testing!
