Great upgrade from my old Garmin 500. The screen is much easier to see for someone who is getting older and now needs reading glasses. It does so much more than I know how to use. It is larger and strong as I dropped it once without any problem so I purchased a case for it.
The 520 is a worthy upgrade from the Edge 500. My one caution would be that it is not as intuitive as the Edge 500, and upgrading from the 500 does require a learning curve.
I ride on the weekends and do trainer sessions at home during the week. I had an older edge 500 for years and finally upgraded. I love this new one.
I use the Garmin for road rides only. I like the fact that I can shut off my cell phone and at the end turn the cell phone on where the Garmin automatically loads to the phone. It then updates Strava and my home computer.
The 520 has all the metrics I want and had with the 510. I use it for training and racing. Adapting from the touch screen to the 7 buttons on the 520 was easier than I expected. The display is crisp and it functions well. I don't need and don't use it's ability to show text msgs and email nor do I use the mapping function. However those are nice to have if one would desire those options.
I purchased this unit to replace the Garmin Edge 25. I wanted to see more data on the screen and be able to measure power. This device sync flawlessly with my speed and cadence sensors and provides all kinds of data collection. It is very configurable and easy to use. Great device!
Love the auto update feature straight to my phone via Bluetooth and never missed a call! Can have more data on screen plus weather forecast. So happy I bought this computer replacing my Garmin 500. Worth every penny!
Accurate elevation tracking, accurate mileage tracking, great battery life, Strava live segments are useless for mountain biking since they display on screen and disappear so quickly - aren't there long enough to see them...
Replaced an Edge 810. Better in every way, except the lack of touchscreen. Makes it tough to accurately touch the right buttons when riding.
Boots up and finds location really fast. And synchs quickly too, with minimal fuss, to Strava.
Very good
