I recently had a flat from an almost microscopic piece of wire. After I change the tire, I went to pump it up and my screw on frame prompt with a little hose would unscrew the press decor when I unscrewed the hose from the valve I couldn't get the core tighten up with my fingers, that's why it is a must have tool
I've used a variety of valve core removal tools, and keep one on every bike. You don't need it until you do, and when you do there's nothing else that works. I've pulled mine off during group rides when someone fixed a flat and accidentally pulled their core. I've loaned it to strangers on the side of the trail. These are practically invisible and fit on your valve stem so you don't have to rummage around in the bottom of the bag.
I painted mine red easier to spot when they are on the ground . And I cant see them
