I use this tire on road bike. I use it on asphalt surfaces 40 to 80 miles per week. Durable, low rolling resistance, flat free . Tread lasts for over 2000 miles. I am on my 4th or 5th set. I have not found a better road bike tire.
I have the 700x28 mounted on Spinergy Stealth wheels on my tandem. They measured at 27.5mm soon after mounting. I wanted something just a little faster than Gatorskins without giving up too much reliability and puncture protection as handling the big bike on a flat tire can be a little bit dicey. I weighed both tires using a hanging scale and they both weighed exactly the same which I took as a sign of quality manufacturing.
I bought these because I really like the performance of the GP-4000 Continental tires and on the other side of the coin I appreciate the puncture resistance of the Gatorskin tires. So far so good. Yes, not quite as fast as the GP-4000 but for sure livelier than the Gatorskins. For sure faster than the Gators and so far no flats so we'll see how that works out longer term. I bought these for ultra distance timed events (double centuries) where speed is important but flat resistance maybe more so.
I put these on my Trek 5200, and oldie but goodie, and they feel just great. Here in N. Georgia there's lots of hills that get you up to speed quickly, and these tires roll like a dream. Unfortunately, a good amount of sharp junk on the sides of the roads to ruin your day, but no flats yet. Wonderful grip on high speed turns gives confidence when hitting them hard. The price was great also. I'll be staying with these for awhile.
My previous set of Grand Prix 4-Season lasted a little over 4000 miles. Had one rear puncture in 4k is awesome! One thing i really like about them is the ride. Usually when you have a tire that is this puncture resistant they will have a harsh ride. These are great tires for the money.
You'd be hard pressed to find a more durable and better performing tire in the sub 250g weight range.
Well wearing, smooth rolling and fast. Best tires ever
I love Continental tires but was disappointed with the quick wear and constant sidewall cuts I was getting on my 4000s tires. I decided to try the Grand Prix 4 season as a last chance with Continental. I do a LOT of riding and was tired of changing flats. since I switched to the Grand Prix 4 Season, I have not had a single flat. The tires wear like steel (i.e. long tread life!) and are tough. I ride in all conditions, year round in Colorado and regardless of the gravel and debris I encounter, these tires can take it!
Extreme durability, over 10,000 road miles on two different front tires, and usually about 4,000 miles from rear tires. Average about 3,000 miles between flats. And the weight is reasonable as well.
I commute to work and its a good all around tire I would have given it four stars. My only dislike would be the price the only time to buy these tires is when they are on sale.
Top notch tire. Did a spring classic with about 13 of the route on gravel and dirt roads and the tires held up through the whole route. Hit some serious ruts, bumps and potholes and the tire never quit. My buddy and I both rode these tires and neither of us had a problem.
I've used Michelins, Vittorias and Hutchinsons before, but these are the longest lasting and most durable year-round tire that I've used. I just wish that it comes out in a tubeless version sometime soon!
These have got to be the hardest tire ever to get on a rim. I unfortunately did not learn my lesson after I pinched 3 tubes trying to get these on DT Swiss 1800 rims. I left this tire out in the sun, used soapy water to try and get this to slip over the rim. On the 5th tube, I finally got it on without pinching the tube. Aired it up and it is so out of round, like it is bulging to one side. Spinning it, it looks like a zig-zag pattern and not straight at all. Worst experience ever for a tire and it doesn't even have any pavement time, Returning
I use the Continental Grand Prix 4-Season with Vectran for all-around training on the road. They are virtually problem free, and are more likely to simply wear out than to puncture. I typically get over 5K miles on the rear wheel, and considerably more on the front. They also roll well, and work just fine for training races.
I replaced Vittoria Rubinos with the Continental 4 Season when a stone ripped the Rubino's sidewall open. I was probably on my 3rd set after putting 11.5 K on the 4 Seasons over 3 years. I rode them 12 months a year with no issues. I think one flat when I rode a set too long. The last set is still good, but I now use the bike they are on on the trainer. They hold up well on the trainer too. I do rotate my tires about every 1k. I ride for exercise so I can' t talk to performance other than wear, but rain or shine I never felt unsafe in the tire, well once when they were completely under water on a flooded road. And even then I wasnt sliding around.
The tires hold and edge extremely well in wet conditions. Just buy them!
I have been using these tires (700x28) exclusively on my BMC GF01. Great and comfortable ride. Excellent cornering. They last about 2500 miles in So. Cal. roads. Like other continental tires, they are little hard to put on. Overall great tires especially when they are sale.
Durable, high quality and grippy. Great tires for the wet while still giving you plenty of responsiveness and speed.
This tire works well in this wet and cold area of Superior, WI. They grip very well!
I ride approximately 150 miles per week on these tires. Asphalt bike lanes, canal paths, gravel paths and roads. After approximately 1,300 miles I've had one flat. This was caused by a pop rivet that went through the tire and tube. Run approximately 85 of air in each tire. Great ride, soft and low rolling resistance. Will purchase again.
