I bought a Trek Domane as my everyday ride because I ride on some dirtgravel areas and roads that are fairly rough. In the first 10 rides on the Bontrager tires I had 4 flats, one at about 30MPH. So I shopped for a tire that claimed to be tough, and I think I found it. I have ridden these about 20 times now, over the same areas, and zero flats. Very happy with them.
Great tire, smooth ride. Over 1,000 miles and they still look like new.

Before I replaced my tires with the Gatorskin, I was using slime in the tubes to avoid flats.
The problem with the slime was that it would clog the valve and I could not get an accurate air pressure reading.
I still would get flats with the slime in the tube.
Once I replaced the tire with the Gatorskin, no more slime, or flats.
Also I am able to get an accurate reading on the tire pressure.
Tough tire but a nice ride on these training tires. No more flats!

I've used these tires for over 20 years, and it was time for another pair. Last year I bought a new bicycle that came with different tires that I tried for a few months, but this spring it was time to go back to the Gatorskins, and I'm glad that I did.
I used the GatorSkins on my Kestrel bicycle for training and general riding for approximately 2 months. It rides fairly smooth and prevents flats fairly well although, I've had one flat already.
Frequent long distance recreational riding and everyday city utility use.
Group recreation riding at moderate to fast speeds. General city riding on mostly paved surfaces, hard-pack and occasional gravel.
I am on my second set of gator skin 28's. I did 5500 mi on the first set. and I now have 4800 on the second . Showing a little wear on back. But I think I will get 6000 mi out of them. 110 lbs of air and they roll nice. I ride mostly flat straight roads and bike paths here in Florida, so tired wear mostly in the center.
I bought my first set and have about 2000 miles on them. Only one flat in a year and half. Before I would be fixing tires after every ride, Here in New Mexico we have goatheads which are nasty little things. I do mainly road riding but there is a lot of broken glass, wire, nails and trash along the highways. I would highly recommend these tires. To make them ALMOST bullet proof to flats I have considered putting liners in them to help. These are well worth them money. I have no problem mounting them on my rims. Have already put a new set of Gatorskins on my new Kona and removed the tires that came with the bike. This is the only tire I will buy for my bikes.
Have been using these for 7 years. Even manage to reach 12000km on a front tyre and 7000km on a back tyre!
