I do a lot of long distance riding and frequently get flats on my 700c tires. Even though I never ride on gravel I have had the smallest pebbles work their way through my tires. These are worth the money. The traction is great. They are somewhat more difficult to put on but not impossible... use the tools and it is not hard at all.
Before, I used to have to constantly change my tires because of flats. I initially tried tire liners and they worked for a while but seemed to make the tires slower. Once I had the folding gatorskins. I haven't had a single flat. And they seem a lot lighter and faster than my previous tires.
This is my second set of these tires, I've litterly have never had a flat from a puncture with these tires. I've only had two flats one was a pinch flat from running too low of tire pressure and the other one i hit a curb and damaged the sidewall. I find them to be well priced and last like steel.
Terrific training tires. After a string of flats on my normal training tires, I made the move to Gatorskins. Still going strong after two seasons. I live in a climate where the weather really eats up the roads so these tires are a must for me. The longevity of the tire makes for a great value play. Plus, these tires do not ride like a heavy training tire, very smooth.
I've been happy with other Continental tires and these Gatorskins do not disappoint. haven't had any problem with them yet, feel great to ride on.
I use these for a 7 mile commute over bad pavement. Now I don't have to worry about flats. I use 25 size kevlar bead with latex tube - smooth feel, good rolling.
I love this tire. It's tough and flat resistant without the harsh ride that other tires of its type give. I've used it on my single bike for double centuries and my tandem.
They are tough and dependable, my third set of these. You can ride these on gravel and rough stuff and still hold up. They have a little more weight than the gp 4000 but they weren't intended to be a racing tire.
I rode about 2500 miles on my first pair with very few punctures. I bought the foldable version (which were slightly more expensive) because of easier handling related to removing and replacing. I don't race so I can't speak to thier high performance aspects.
Love the tires , never worry about flats again ! Good stuff !
Very durable tire that's great for long rides and training. My current pair is at about 4k miles and I can't remember having any flats on them. I gladly recommend these to friends for training and longer rides. They aren't the fastest clincher out there, but if you're just going out for a good ride and don't want to deal with fixing flats, these are the answer.
I have used many other tires over the years. These tires are by far the most durable I have found yet. I am a large rider 6'6 220lbs. I just recently changed out my rear tire out at 3,000 miles. It still had tread on it but I didn't want to push it. I normally average 1,200 to 1,500 miles and a couple of flats a tire. No issues with these tires. They may not be the lightest but for training and general riding they are an incredible value. I have been using the 700x23 wire bead version. Just ordered a folding version for the next replacement. The way they last it will be a while before it gets replaced. The latest tire also has the wear indicators that the Conti 4000S has. Highly recommended!
I'm very happy with these tires. They held up against the worst that CalTrans could throw at them during a year of commutes through a freeway construction zone. Once they hit about 1000 miles, they got really slippery, though, and it was time to replace them. (I'm a pretty big guy and I don't usually get more than 800-1000mi out of a set of roadie tires.)
Awesome tires, really great quality, I use them for commuting and they have holding up great.
I purchased the 25mm version and will never go back to 23's. Best combination of comfort and speed I have found in this catagory. For training and club riding on my steel frame no trouble keeping up with the carbon frames on 23's.
No punchures so far in one month of riding 200 plus miles a week. They are worth the little extra cost over some of their competitors. Handling is pretty good so buy a set and enjoy.
I put these on my Marin Road bike and was amazed at the durability and how easily these tires roll. I have increased my average speed from 1 to 1 12 mph overall and this tire corners very good. I would highly recommend these tires.
If you are looking for a tire that rolls reasonably well, for traing or commuting this is the tire. The tire is also great to avoid flats on winter traing rides. I also have used the tire in a roadtrail race with success.
I rotate these tires to the rear for final wear, but it's hard to know when to retire them - they just keep on rollin', even when the threads are starting to show. Rarely a flat and the folding version is light and seems every bit as durable as the wire bead style. Training or event rides usually include rough pavement and chipseal and these tires are the best. You don't lose any time when you don't have to stop to fix a flat!
Have been riding these tires for 7 or 8 years. I do lots of city riding so they are subjected to quite a bit of street debris and pot holes, etc. I can usually expect to ride a set for at least one season.
This is a great bulletproof tire for commutingtouring and training. I have commuted on one for more than a year without a flat. The rubber holds up well and the tread does well in the dry and wet.
