Perfect cap if you dont like the visor and great for early morning chilly rides.
This fits well and keeps my balding head from burning. It seems lighter and thinner than the Giro version, but durability is unknown at this point.
Great summer cap, way better than the bandanas I would always wear. Appreciate this cap for longer summer rides.
I use this cap on the nice days in the spring and fall. It is perfect in weight and feel and works great until it gets too hot and the sweat really flows. It is too thin and cannot hold much sweat. When it comes to summer I switch to something more substantial -- kind of a drag given these are very light. Still looking for the perfect blend of sweat absorption from the brow and thing and airy while still offering sun protection for the summer.
My favorite band is Rush. One of their old songs I identify with more and more is I Think I'm Going Bald. If I don't ride with a cap, I get crazy vent tan lines or burns on my skull. This cap does the trick. It's light and comfortable and keeps the sweat out of my eyes. I've had one for a couple of years with no noticeable wear. Highly recommended
I have some other skull caps but I wanted one that was white to keep as cool as possible in the summer. I have a giro one that is ok - a little tight and material is thicker so it is a little hot. This bad boy vents well, keeps most of the sweat from pouring down your eyes and is easy to keep clean. Grab it on sale and you won't regret it.
I wear this scullcap under my helmet. It is thin, it doesn't bulk up and make the helmet fit tight. Although it is designed for warm weather, I find it helps cut a bit of chill on cool days too. It does not go over the ears. For me, it's a good piece to wear from high 50's through low 70's. Since it does retain a small amount of heat, I tend not to wear the cap when it's really hot, although, it is a trade off from a sun burned scalp (as I'm bald).
Keeps head from sun burn through helmet or without a helmet.what I was surprised by the skull cap is that it keeps sweat from pouring down my face on the hottest days and my shades don't get messed up!!!! Got two and would recommend. Oh, try wetting it before you take off on a hot day!!!!
For anyone, this skullcap keep sweat and suntan lotion from dripping into your eyes. For bald guys, it has the additional benefit of keeping your head from getting those funny shape sunburn lines.
Looking for a product to upgrade from headband, which were not doing a good enough job absorbing and wicking sweat during summer rides. Tried a few summer weight skullcaps and found that the Castelli skullcap works the best. Does a great job absorbing and wicking sweat and keeping cool, no longer does sweat build up and run into my eyes as with a headband. Fits well under helmet, like that it covers my bald head from the sun. Tried Giro and PI skullcaps as well, liked Castelli the best.
Very comfortable. Wicks away moisture. I will definitely buy another.
The cap allows more air to blow through, and less sweat to accumulate while protecting my scalp from sun than my Headsweats caps. But the price is a bit steep.
Overall this is a great skullcap for wearing under a road helmet. It catches and wicks sweat very well, even on the hottest of days and long rides exceeding 50 miles. Experienced very little dripping even when sweating up a storm. Fit is excellent and stretches well to accommodate even my large noggin, and it doesn't create pressure points under a helmet, which is rare for most skullcaps. Pretty pricey even on sale for a skull cap IMO, regardless of how good this is.
Cap fits well under the helmet and adds a layer of protection from the sun. It also aids in keeping sweat out of your eyes. If you suffer from helmet hair this will keep you looking sharp.
Too small for my not-huge head. Despite stretching it over my head, it does not cover more than the tips of my ears. Sun protection is one of the main reasons I wear a skullcap. Returned and ordered a DeSoto, will see how that works.
Totally keeps sweat from running into my eyes. Pick up two new ones just before a Marin Headlands trip, temps in the 90's riding around Mt. Tam. Never felt over heated but got the benefit of no sweat running into eyes
I've worn the Castelli skull cap on several high humidity/hot days and it has done a good job of keeping my eyes and sunglasses clear. I think it works best if you place the front of the skull cap above the helmet headband.
Keeps baldy from getting sunburnt thru helmet air holes without heating up on long rides. Not as good at keeping sweat out of eyes though.
The skull cap I purchased was well worth the purchase - the cap makes my helmet fit snug and the helmet does not move around as well as providing the sun cover through the helmet holes. I really like the way the cap keeps the sweat from my head off my glasses.
Product was a bit tight at first but after some regular use it now fits pretty good.
