I didn't read the recommended temperature range prior to riding with these socks. I was riding in the mid thirties with my Shimano winter boots on and my toes were a little cold at the end. The feel of these socks is decidedly not like Marino wool. Still when you consider all the plastic trash you see on your rides (at least here in Delaware) I commend Castelli for using an eco-friendly material to produce a very comfortable sock for Fall or Spring riding. I have not had the time to determine how well they will wear. My opinion is that they will hold up as well as wool socks and maybe even better. You should definitely consider adding a pair to your cycling gear.
This sock definitely feels a different than your favorite wool pair. I don't find it unpleasant in any way. I have ridden with this sock in 30 degree weather in my Shimano boots and only toward the end of the ride felt anything like cold toes. I should ride with one Castelli wool on one foot and this sock on the other. Maybe you will try that when you buy a pair? In the meantime, what the hell are we going to do with all the plastic you see along the side of the road? This is another way we are screwing up the planet we want to ride on. Castelli has my respect for doing something good for Mother Earth!
Seems durable and comfortable.Fits size 12 foot.
I hate to use shoe covers unless it is really cold. These socks were perfect without covers in about 40 degree weather. Very happy with them.
