Be the King of the Mountain.
Zipp has taken their ground-breaking 202 Firecrest to the braintrust in their Nest Research & Development team and charged them with an impossible task: shedding weight off their lightest carbon clincher wheelset while simultaneously improving braking, stability and descending. Presenting, the Zipp 202 NSW Carbon Clincher.
At 1,375 grams, Zipp claims this wheelset is sure to please the weight weenie in all of us. But these wheels are more than just lightweight; the 32mm deep rim is laced to their Cognition hubset. The front wheel weighs in at 615 grams, laced radially with 18 Sapim CX-Ray straight pull spokes, while the rear wheel weighs 760 grams, laced with 24 Sapim CX-Ray spokes in a 2-cross pattern. Inside the rear hub, their Axiom Clutch does away with the standard 3 pawl always-on ratcheting system, replacing it with a 36-tooth magnetic freehub body that disengages when you start coasting. Take all that time you saved on the climb and watch it grow as you dive into corners with confidence!
These rims come with the updated Aerodynamic Boundary Layer Control dimpling technology, improving aerodynamic performance and reducing complications from those pesky crosswinds. Zipp's ImPress graphics are printed directly onto the rim, resulting in a stealth look that doesn't compromise the aerodynamics.
We know what you're thinking "All the weight savings in the world aren't going to mean a thing if I can't stop!" Zipp has you covered with their ShowStopper brake track. "Good enough for Carbon" isn't good enough for Zipp; their unique silicon carbide brake track gives you unmatched braking in all weather. Period.
Claimed weights are 615 g / front, 760 g / rear, 1375 g total. 34 mm rim depth. Rider weight limit is 250 lbs. Includes titanium quick-release skewers, Silca valve extenders, wheel bags, Zipp Platinum Pro Evo brake pads, Zipp 700c x 20 - 28 mm inner tubes, and rim tape.
