Great combination of grip and speed. They run a bit narrow though. I used the 40mm version but they measured 36.5 on my 21mm internal rims.
I am going to try the 44mm next and think these would shine with a wider internal rim as I only had 21mm at the time. The compound is extremely grippy and felt confident cornering on pavement on twisty descents. In the mud and wet stuff they shine and cornering on dirt is superb. I look forward to riding and racing these more in the future for sure.
Used these in a fast 60 mile mixed surface race. Was able to maintain 20+ mph on the road and gave me a lot of confidence and cornering in the gravel and singletrack sections. Very fast rolling (the data on BicycleRollingResistance.com backs this up) for a knobby tire and great grip - highly recommend!
I decided to give the Tufo Swampero tires a try after seeing their high score on bicycle rolling resistance . I've used the tires in a muddy cyclocross event and 2 gravel races and I'm really impressed. They seem to roll almost as fast as my maxxis receptors and have more grip than the maxxis ramblers, which they replaced. They also weighed in right around the claimed weight at 437g and 429g in the 40mm size .
