I was replacing my Campy Chorus 12-speed Zipp pads. According to the Swiss Stop web site, their product is supposed to fit Campy 10/11/12 speed. They do not.
First, two of the 4 pads do not have an indentation for the retaining screw. Second, for these 2 pads, when you put in the retaining screw, it causes the pad to move out of the holder and rub against the rim. So should I go without the screw or only partially put in the screw so it doesn't cause the pad to pop out?
I sent an email to Swiss Stop. They replied quickly with this answer: "the compatibility of brake pads on Campy brakes is in my opinion very complicated. IF you have a retaining screw on your brake shoes, you will need Flash Pro pads. Race Pro pads are basically for those brake shoes which have a pin included to the brake shoe."
WTF?
I'm not a competitive cyclist. I am your typical fred when it comes to go-fast parts. I got some carbon wheels with brake tracks, and these pads to match them. The stopping power is great when dry, but (as I'd been warned) slow to come on in the wet. The think that shocked me the most is how quickly they wear out. I'm down over 1mm in less than 200mi of riding. I'm 200lbs, for what it's worth.
This replacement pad is of the same value and performance which comes standard on my Lightweights.
With a clean carbon brake surface, these pads will NEVER Squeak!
This is a great value and well worth the purchase.
