The Kask Protone Icon Helmet features the latest technological advances in safety, ventilation, and aerodynamics to make it an icon of road cycling. The Protone Icon takes its design from KASK's winning Protone helmet and has improved upon it in every way possible.
Like all KASK helmets, the Protone Icon has been developed in accordance with the KASK WG11 protocol, an objective, scientific approach to measuring the helmet's performance against rotational impacts.
Protone Icon updates its aesthetic for a modern look, the new model maintains the core features that have made it a true icon of the road. The Protone Icon utilizes seamless technology, joining the lower and upper parts of the shell to create a refined and super-elegant look.
The new over-injected rubber dial provides improved finger grip. The vertical stabilizer has been redesigned for greater stability providing a customized fit for riders with long hair. The ergonomic neck support ensures a fast and secure fit against the back of the head.
The innovative inner strengthening frame offers greater mechanical strength and a more compact profile. In case of shock, it prevents the helmet from breaking into many pieces, drastically improving safety.

I own 3 KASK Protone helmets. Having survived 2 serious crashes aboard 2 different road bikes, both without cranial damage of any kind, my black/red unit and my light blue unit are retired. I have owned many quality road specific helmets. It so happens that the KASK Protone fits my head as though custom formed for it. My first violent get off occurred when a medium sized German Shepherd darted out from my periphery directly in front of my wheel at 21 mph. 7 broken bones and a week in hospital. My helmet absorbed a major blow that easily would've been a severe concussion at best. That was the legacy of my black/red Protone. Severely scarred, but not fractured. Thank you KASK. More recently, i experienced a sudden deflation of front tire/latex tube, watching both peel off the carbon rim almost instantaneously. Freak happening. Lost control of the bike and down i went. Again, my noggin was saved by Light Blue that day. There might be equally effective helmets out there, but KASK has won my confidence with their amazing Protone.
This is my first Kask helmet and it fits my head much better than some other brands I've had. It's a little narrower in width than other brands so the sides fit me better without having to crank up the straps as much. I used their sizing guide and fell into the range that overlaps between the small and the medium so I opted for the medium initially since that's what I normally wear. After trying it on and seeing how much room I had prior to tightening the dial, I made the switch over to the small. It fits perfectly and has a little smaller shell than the medium so it looks better on me as well. The pads are comfortable and there are surprisingly few adjustments on the straps, but they're right where they need to be. I've seen others note that sweat management can be a problem with this helment and I can't totally disagree. It's well vented, but I wonder whether the pads are collecting sweat and then draining onto my glasses. I've only noticed it when it's in the upper 80's and humid though, so most days it's not an issue. If it weren't for that, it would easily be a 5-star rating. As it is, it's a really strong 4 1/2.
I've been using a different brand of helmet for a few years now, and wanted to try something new. After seeing a few cycling influencers wearing it, I decided to take a flier and try out the Protone Icon. Glad I did--it's probably my go-to helmet now over the Met and the Poc, as it is the most comfortable on my bald head and the much thicker padding absorbs sweat super well. So it's sort of the best combination of a few worlds--it isn't quite as ventilated as the Poc, but it's close. it isn't quite as aero as the Met, but it's close. But the Poc doesn't seem that aero and the Met is probably best for spring and fall wearing as it just isn't that well ventilated. So super pleased, and this will be my first choice for the rest of the summer and beyond.
I've had many Giro's, two Lazers, and this is my first time trying Kask. It is by far the most comfortable helmet I've ever worn. It is perfect. And in my opinion, one of the best looking. The low profile keeps you from looking like a mushroom!! Being a southern rider, it's also very cool on a hot day. I can feel the breeze coming through the two front vents. I highly recommend it!
I waited forever for these to be available, and I'm glad I did. It fits perfectly and is a great shape without any pressure points like I've had in the past with many other brands. It's super light, seems to be well ventilated (I got it after the temps dropped in the fall), and the styling is just different enough to set it apart from the pack. Strongly recommend it as a great helmet.
An absolutely great helmet. Fit was perfect. This is my 3rd Kask helmet. Other two are Utopia and Utopia Y.
I love the red color. Bought it for summer riding especially for the longer days with more climbing involved.
Liked it enough I bought another to gift to my best friend
My first purchase of a Protone was in the winter of 2021 when I knew my other Kask's three-year life expectancy was to expire that summer. I appreciated the easily adjustable, comfortable fit, breathability in hot weather and lightweight of both. This helmet's three years expire this coming July so I grabbed this Protone on sale this fall. Great helmet to protect the noggin!
My wife loves and fits Kask Protone very well. She has a rounder head shape than myself. It's THE helmet she grabs to wear all the time for all rides except TTs and Tris. For my oval head, I would need to size up and then it looks like a mushroom cap on my head.
