Don't throw it away when the battery goes bad.

As anyone who uses USB-rechargeable lights knows, their convenient, rechargeable lithium-ion batteries begin to diminish in capacity with each cycle and eventually your super-bright light becomes dimmer and doesn't last very long. Blackburn has solved this problem with the Central 700 USB-rechargeable front light with a replaceable battery pack.

The Central 700 includes a Universal Mounting System mounting strap that mounts to bars or a helmet at a wide variety of angles. The light is also compatible with popular action camera mounts.

Micro USB rechargeable. LED fuel gauge/charge indicator. Charging cable included, no tools required. Lithium-ion battery. Waterproof to IP-65 standard. 6 hour recharge time. 172 g.

Run Times:

  • High 1.25 hours at 700 lumens
  • Med 2 hours at 400 lumens
  • Low 4 hours at 200 lumens
  • Pulse 16 hours at 150 lumens
  • Strobe 9 hours at 150 lumens

I have rear and front lights in all my bikes, even for daytime use (main purpose is to be seen by drivers). Hence the light has to be strong to be visible during the day and this Blackburn is.

Yet I needed a light that could be mounted under the clip-ons of my tri-bars... Almost all light has to be mounted perpendicular to the bar, while for clip-ons you have to have the option of a longitudinal mount, which this one has...

Really powerful light at an affordable price

In the past I have purchased powerful headlights but the downside was to power them you needed to hook up an external power pack with a cable. With the Blackburn Central, everything is contained in the light. That said, I am much more likely to use this light due to its ease of operation. Also, I really like the helmet mount option as there is nothing like getting a distracted motorists attention at night than this light shinning their way.
