The product is well made and fits true (bought Large for 6'3", 165lb rider). Previous generations of this product had zippers at the ankles, which I like because they enabled easier on/off of the tights especially when wearing heavier winter cycling socks. My first experience with the laser cut shoulder straps, so will have to see what the durability is after months of heavy use. I have successfully used previous generations of this product for years in all kinds of challenging winter conditions, including 20-55deg F and high mountain ascents/descents in the Rockies, Sierras, Alps and Dolomites.
I use PI pro bibs (medium) for longer rides (perfect fit, super comfortable) but picked up these at a good price for shorter rides and the indoor trainer. These bibs were very tight (and hard to get on) for the first few rides and, while they've softened and stretched a little, they're definitely not as supple as the pro bibs. I think they'll probably get better with use but they're still a bit restrictive (I'm 6'1' 162lbs). The chamois is decent but again not as good as the pro. Overall, the quality seems very good and for the price they're decent bibs.
Comfortable, true to size. Windproofing is incredible. Makes a thermal jersey comfortable in temperatures 10 degrees colder. High quality construction. Can't speak for durability yet.
The reason to buy this is the windproofing--if you normally wear a windproof gillet, this won't do any more for you than a regular thermal undershirt.
Downsides: price (over $100 for fully synthetic--I would have expected merino for the non-windproof portions at this price point), care (wash inside out, remove immediately, line dry only), tag (large and scratchy and hard to remove). Still a five star base layer, just not "perfect".
I have the bright orange Perfetto Vest. Buy it if you don't want to get hit while training. As a former Cat 2 masters road racer you need to wear bright gear, use a front blinking light, rear Varia radar light and even a mirror. This fits tight, blocks the wind, has deep pockets, adds some water protection and goes with my Perfetto orange jersey. I also have Castelli shorts, arm, knee and leg warmers, shoe covers and a variety of their gloves. If you like to ride outside in the winter and don't want to be miserable, you get what you pay for. Castelli has all the most technical materials. Note: Castelli fits small and snug. Size up. I buy XL.
