These are required anywhere you have sharp, pointy objects waiting to ruin your day. Arizona, where I ride, is awash in goat heads. Small, round seeds that have points as sharp as any needle you've seen, all over the place. Without Slime tubes, you will learn to either repair tires out on the trail, or spend allot of time pushing your bike home. Either one is not the way to enjoy your bike adventure. Don't leave home without them!
I installed this inner tube on the rear wheel of my mountain bike. In 25 years of riding, I've had many flat rear tires, but only about 2 or 3 flats on the front. It must be because of the higher weight distribution to the rear wheel. I'm hoping the slime in the tube will seal any flats, but don't have any yet. So far this year, I've only been commuting about 25 miles tofrom work on regular asphalt roads.
both 26 inch tubes are bad out of the box the first one leaked around the valve the second one blew up when inflated to 40 pounds complete waste of time and money.
No mess is nice but they are a bit pricey. They work great for small punctures and always get me home!
Is there anything more frustrating than changing tubes mid-ride? Not for me. This is a great product that got me through the last 16 miles of the bike on my recent 70.3 when I picked up a tack but was able to finish the race.
I have used Slime tubes for years with great success. I have ridden in thorn and cactus infested areas for hundreds of thousands of mile. Not to mention the hundreds of small sealups,I once had a gnarly 4 inch thorn go thru the tread and out the sidewall, I pulled it out spun the tire and watched the green wonder goo seal it up. I never changed that tube until the tire went bald, several hundred miles later.
I was dissapointed though when this last tube I used separated at the stem rubber connection at initial fillup. Too much of a pain in the ass to send it back so I ate it.
Even given that, these tubes are worth their weight in thorns.
Hi,
Thanks for your review! I'm sorry to hear about the defective tube you received. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with our customer service department at [email protected] so we can make it right.
Thanks, Stacia
I use the slime tubes on my mountain bike and they work great. I decided to buy these for my road bike for training to minimize the possibility of a tube swap during a ride. These tubes do hold up and will typically allow you to finish a ride before the leak forces a tube swap. I did get a pinched tube with one of these and it did not stop the leak, so for that reason I gave 4 stars.
These tubes are great. We live in an area where there are tons of thorns. I did nothing but patch tires. Haven't had to do one repair since putting these on.
USE SLIME EXTRA STRONG 29X1.25 ON MY TOURING BIKE, WHILE RIDING ON 700X47 TOURING TIRES, WORKS GREAT
Been using Slime tubes for many yrs, got a flat recently, even with tube liners and Slime. Got the tire off and had all this watery green liquid, I had a spare tube and made the change. Got home and was reloading the Slime and read the instructions, it's good for 2 years. I believe I had last loaded Slime into the tube about 6 yrs ago.
I think as time goes on the gooo inside does not move around as it should also If you get two punctures at once forget it they can not handle it. I like them, they do give me a bit more confidence when riding on the crappy roads around here.
Small stuff no problem anything like a piece of wire from a car tire forget it.
Also the valves get frozen up if you have not ridden for a while.
Installed tube with a new tire. No flats yet. Tube is heavier than a standard tube.
My spouse & I have been using these Slime inner tubes for years in conjunction with Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires... the combo makes our rides bulletproof! Havent had a flat on the road in years!
These tubes have kept me flat-free for months. I use these in 28mm tires.
I have used these tubes n y training bike, after having a three plate episode a few years back I decided I never wanted to walk 8 miles down hill in my cleats again! So I have been using slime tubes and they work great I never worry about running over stuff unless it is big stuff then I get worried.
I had one instance where a wire went through both sides of the tire and tube a very long wire and sharp.
Recently I had to replace a tube because the valve stem got stuck open but I had that tube on there for years, no complaints.
Used these when I switched out my off road tires for road tires
good value / price
It's the only tubes I use anymore. They really work.
Great to have this in my bag in case of the dreaded flat. Good tube at a good price!
Two months and no flats yet.
