Bought this to supplement my hitch rack for use on a different car (one without a hitch). I was understandably nervous to mount my bike with suction cups, but it installed quickly and easily and performed flawlessly on my first trip (600 miles round trip). Pretty awesome that you can remove and store the rack in small box when not using, and the reinstallation is so easy I can just pop it on top of whatever car we're taking.
My one gripe is that the basic rack is set up only for forks with quick release, not through axle. To accommodate through axles, you have to buy special inserts for another $20. And, they don't make it super easy to figure out what you need to make through axles work. I bought a through axle adapter, which turned out to be for the front wheel (if I had purchased the front wheel mount). What I needed was a Huske plug (whatever that is), and it had to be sized correctly for my axle. Now that I have the plugs, good to go!
Great bike rack. Easy to install. Don't have to worry about attaching to rain gutters or roof racks. Easy to remove as well. You just need to do a bit of eyeballing to get the placement of the suction cups correct. You do need to pay attention to suction pump indicators. Over time the suction cups will lose some suction and need to be pumped up. Other than that, if you're not racing every weekend and like to go to the car wash, this rack is for you.
I've had one of the Talon's for a little over a year. I keep mine in my trunk, I've had to go rescue riding buddies and this rack is super convenient for stuff like that. It mounts very easily, the cups have a little pump on them. Sometimes you have to push down a little to get the suction started, a little squirt of water from your water bottle helps too. I've used it to get to a ride that I want to do. Very easy to remove and lock in the car. I seriously can't believe how convenient this rack is. These are the same cups that glazers use to install glass, they hold very well.
I really recommend it to those people who have compact cars, I have traveled a few times at a speed of 80 miles per hour and I have not had any problems, it is even faster to install than the racks that go in the trunk. My car is a Hyundai Veloster and this rack works very well.
Use the product to bring my newly purchased bike across the country... first day checked on it frequently... ultimately understood it wasnt going anywhere!
