I have been a long time Pro-link user for chain lubes. Last year, I decided to switch over to Rock-n-Roll as a chain lube for my road bike, with no regrets. Rock-n-Roll keeps my very clean, and avoids me taking the extra step of cleaning my chain before application. I lube my chain after every ride, which normally takes minutes, and let it set in over night, before use the next day. It seems too keep my chain and drivetrain more quiet, too. If conditions are wet, you may want to pull out a different lube for the day.
I use a master link and typically remove and clean my chains with diesel fuel every 300 miles or so, wipe dry, then lube with Rock-N-Roll as instructed, at the cassette. Then wipe off excess. Rock-N-Roll can be applied in between the more thorough cleaning without chain removal. The diesel is recyclable, in that it "layers" out after a week or so in the jar, such that the gunk settles to the bottom and you can pour off the clean diesel into your "shaker jar" for washing the chain. (small amounts, 2-3 rinse/shake cycles)
I tried this for my winter/rain bike (live in PNW), and it seems to last a lot longer than my summer oil (using chain noise as my gauge). The down side is, it attracts more dirt and is much harder to clean off. This is acceptable to me for the purpose I'm using it for but I will keep using my other oil in the summer.
I tried it on a brand new ultegra 11speed chain and the chain is so greasy/messy before installing the new chain I totally degreased it and then followed rock and roll's instructions. I do longer rides so end up changing a few flats and impossible not to be a greasy mess with this lube. On my other bike I use Silca wax and that chain and sprocket are spotless
if you follow the instructions you will not get many lube cycles out of the bottle. hopefully the results will be worth it, but kind of disappointed that they do not want you to just drip it on like most similar lubes, but instead really soak the chain with it.
I was a longtime user of T9 until I was given a bottle of rock-n-roll gold by a fellow club member as a gag gift since my chain was too loud. After I cleaned my chain and tried it I was shocked by the results, my chain is almost silent now and I'm not having to lube it as often since I can ride around 100-200 miles depending on terrain. I would definitely recommend this if you are unsure of which lube to use!
Best dry lube on the market!!
Have used for years. Great lube. Great price
I like this lube for a quick clean and lube process when you're on the road for a touring adventures or week long camp and ride event, such as Cycle Oregon. I normally remove and clean my chains with diesel fuel, then remount, apply Rock-N-Roll, then wipe of excess. It's a fairly dry finish that doesn't attract as much dirt. Another plus - the compact bottle has a tight lid and doesn't leak in the gear bag.
Love this stuff. It goes on easy and does a great job of lubing and cleaning the chain. I use its lot and never see any build up.
Keeps my drivetrain super quiet
A really great product! My mechanic suggested this lube (he has used it for many years) and swears by it. A "Must Have" It works great, lasts long, and doesn't collect gunk and grime.
Have been a satisfied long time Rock-N-Roll Absolute Dry user for years so I thought I'd try the Gold. I usually clean and replace my lube every 15-200 miles; now with the Gold I can go 200-250 miles per lube.
I have been using this lube for 5 years on all my bikes in all weather conditions every time I ride. It cleans the drivetrain first , then lubes it. It tests out to be in the top 3 best lubes for reducing friction and it is by far the best priced product of the top choices. It is very thin in consistency and easy to use and wipe up.
Works great and easy to use! My chain stays clean without using degreaser when I use this regularly.
Best lube I have used. Doesn't attract a lot of dirt.
Rock n roll requires more frequent application than some other lubes (had been using DumondTech), and amount used for each application is greater, but chain, cassette, and chainrings stay clean, looking nearly new. Excellent friction test results seem to be borne out. You need to adhere to instructions, best provided on website.
This is a VERY thin chain lube that does a good job of penetrating tight places. My only complaint is that it pretty much needs to be constantly shaken during use as the two parts quickly separate
We have Mt. bikes, Road bikes, and Tri Bikes. There are 4 adults in our family and we all use Rock-N-Roll Lube. It cleans the chain and lubes at the same time. We wipe down the chains every time we ride and apply Rock-N-Roll Lube about every 4th ride. It keeps the chain spinning smoothly.
I'm no expert, in my experience, compared to another commonly used brand's "Dry Lube", this keeps my chain running quieter for longer. The Rock-N-Roll doesn't exactly say wet or dry, but I believe the properties to be like a wax based dry lube, maybe. I don't know, but it works and I like it.
I first tried Rock-N-Roll Gold lube after reading about it in Velonews, where it was demonstrated to be the most efficient of off the shelf lubes. What keeps me using it the simplicity of application and the bonus that it cleans your chain as well. Since I started using this product the rate of chain and cog replacement has dropped considerably. Proof to me that it works well.
