I had high hopes for the Cytal as a long-time POC helmet fan, but came away disappointed. The Cytal felt noticeably heavy when I first put it on, and the bulk was noticeable throughout a one-hour test ride. My scale later confirmed the hunch. At 327g (white, medium size), the Cytal is 30g heavier than my POC Ventral MIPS and Met Trenta MIPS. I suspect this is why EF riders all opt for the Cytal lite or carbon versions...Venting felt adequate, but one hour at 70 degrees isn't enough to show how the helmet will perform in summer heat. Re aesthetics, the Cytal is very mushroomy (even by POC standards), which is a deal-breaker for many people. Re aerodynamics, it's probably on par with every other contemporary road helmet. Bottom line: this is a lot of money for an uncomfortable helmet that feels more budget-level.
Was ridiculously expensive but I had been in a serious accident going over my handlebars and I figured if I could limit my losses in the next accident I would spend the money. This helmet was rated top 5 in the Virginia tech testing lab out of about 300. No 1 and 2 were not available at the moment. Lets hope I never have to really see if it is a good helmet .
It is everything a helmet should be, It is very comfortable, it has one of the highest safety ratings and its bright (I bought the orange one). I have used POC helmets for years and they never disappoint. My only disappointment is that the orange only comes in matte, I would have been that much happier if was glossy.
Absolutely in love with the POC Cytal. This was my second Cytal and it doesn't disappoint. Whether you're looking for a lightweight, ventilation, or just an all around cool looking helmet - the Cytal has you covered.
A little more expensive of a helmet than I'd like to spend, but I bought it on sale with some store credit, so it made it a little more manageable. It's a very comfortable, light, and breathable helmet. I love the bright pink and it's very easy to spot on the road. This would only be a problem with someone with long hair, but my only complaint with it is it doesn't have a good spot on the backside to pull a pony tail through and have the tighten spot properly sitting on my occipital bone. So I have to result to a VERY low pony or a braid straight from my skull. A little annoying in comparison to my old helmet, but not enough to suffice returning it.
Looks great, it's a little bit bigger than the one I had, but it doesn't feel heavier. The fit is just perfect and confortable for long 6 hour rides. Mine is white and matches my white shimano shoes.
Great fit and love the top safety review
