Love the wool weight, too tight at top for my calves, and I am not a big legged guy. Folded them down into shorties and they are great, but that's not what I was trying to buy.
I've used Pearl Izumi's tall merino socks for years and they're generally my favorite for 90% of winter riding, but the latest version seems to be substantially shorter and a little more lightweight than previous generations. Laid flat, they're the same length as the old socks, but pulled up my calf, they reach ~1 inch lower down.
Better stretch and fit than some other blends. Tall, warm and comfortable. I see others have said too tall and tight on the calf but not on me.
