These handle great on problem roads. Gravel ridden winter bike lanes, glassy areas, no problem. One of my routes had a diversion that led me into thoseunincorporated non paved roads. I was glad I was in the bike with these tires. You do want to check your tire pressure. If they get a little soft you will kill yourself trying to get them to roll. They don't grip hills as well as my smooth road tires, I have to work alot harder to get up them, but hey, better workout, right? I got the 35's, which is what came on my bike, but these are bigger and I couldn't fit my fenders. You will not make any freinds with the amount of spray these give off on wet roads. I've been riding without fenders on these for a while, and I've had enough. I'm sizing down to get my fenders back on. Otherwise, given the mixed terrain and conditions I face in my declining city, I think these are the best trade off for security. I've been on them for 4 months now and not a single flat. Even though I've ridden over glass, gravel, branches, other things strewn in the bike lane. I always avoid the stuff when I can, but most often it's not possible.
I used to be a devotee of Schwalbes, but these are definitely a more economical alternative. As I no longer commute by bike (working from home) I'm using these tires as bulletproof winter training tires. They are not plush gravel grinding tires. They are not grippy racing tires. They're hard-wearing, thick treads you ride because fixing a flat in winter is Not Fun At All. Additionally, I think the tread is capable of some light gravel andor mud, but I haven't proven this theory.
Title says most. 35's too wide for front fork on Trek Domane SL6, 32's are fine. Great deal, fast delivery. Gives peace of mind for urban road debris while providing good off-road traction and confidence.
I used on my cycle camping trip from Pittsburgh to DC 340 miles or dirt and mud and some sharp rocks with 45 lbs on back of bike(that's where the tire was mounted).. No flats or mounting problems!
I ride a 7 mile circuit around the block I live on. It's all paved but a lot of it is course aggregate strewn with loose gravel. A few miles are on the shoulder of an Interstate highway, littered with broken glass and debris that falls off 18 wheelers. About 23 rds is on farm to market roads, again littered with glass and debris. Before buying these tires, I averaged a flat about every 75 miles and tires only lasted about 300 miles. Very frustrating and expensive. I have over 400 miles on these tires and they show no signs of wear. I have had several flats but they were due to tube failures (separation of the inner seam). 700x35 60 psi, smoothes out the road. I am 6'1, 230 and ride from 7 to 21 miles up to 5 times a week.
I use these tires in place of the Panaracer Panacella, which apparently are not available in 700c.
The price is fair.
The tire does ride fairly hard.
Very good product, good service, will tell all my bike buddies.
Great tires, fast delivery
these tires are at a great price!
I am a year round bicycle commuter in Chicago where the roads are often terrible. I have ridden on many different tires. These tires by far are the most comfortable and fastest I have experienced. I love them. If they have one weakness it is in slushy snow where they just don't do as well as a knobby tire.
What a deal! This is a lot of tire for the money. I put them on my LiteSpeed T5G when I started riding more gravel. They are not a feather weight but I dont think about the weight of my tires when Im miles away from my car or garage. So far no flats (about 750 miles) including lots of trash covered pavement and very rocky trails. Im a Clydesdale 220s so they really get a workout. The 33s are a bit wider and I run them pretty close to max psi. Lots of value here!
Put them on a fitness bike to do gravel paths and such. Also smoothed out the ride on the road from the 'road tire' I had before. Not trying to win a peloton or anything' so works for me
