The increased platform area does seem to provide more stability.
I bought these pedals as a backup set for my road bike and indoor training bike.
I have nothing bad to say about these pedals.
LOOKs great! Works well. Sexy pedals. Only gripe is the clipping is too light for my liking, but not so light that I unclip when bunny hopping over stuff. Overall a great purchase at this price point. No complaints yet, but I might have a complaint when I need to service this new design which LOOKs to require LOOKs proprietary tool'
