After about a month of use so far, This has been a great headlight for me. It offers a feature set that I find useful, It's bright enough for solid/reliable visibility without being blinding other cyclists on the roads/trails, and it seems to hold a charge well (so far).
My only reservation is about the mounting strap/bracket, as I've had similar straps break in the past. That said, the Light & Motion VIS700 seems like a very well-made product, so we'll cross that bridge when we come to it :)
This is a solid feeling and well built light. I like the features for brightness options, as well as safety strobe. Only drawback is the battery life is less than expected. I've been using in cold weather and wonder if that has impacted the battery life per charge.
I use this for road cycling mainly for daytime riding. I got it for the pulse mode that doesn't emit a strobe effect (not recommended for cycling and frowned upon in Washington State). It's more of a blink-blink -bangx3 effect. I would assume it gets the attention of motorists due to the erratic light changes it emits. I saw a cyclist using one while driving my car and it got my attention! That's why I decided to buy this light.
It also holds a charge for a long time. The only downside is it's sometimes difficult to attach.
It's a little pricey, but it's an investment in your safety. I've been hit by a car turning out in front of me before and I didn't have a headlight; wish I did at the time!
Living in an urban area, I use lights each time I ride. I have older models of this light and I think this one is improved. Better blinks: I like the rapid pulse and blink mix. Brighter light. Longer lasting battery. I'd give it 5 stars except the strap to put in onto the handlebars is shorter on the new model and there's not a lot of strap to grab, plus it's not very elastic in colder weather.
I use my light at least three rides a week (65-100 miles). I have to charge after two rides. I like this light because it hasn't lost charge on a ride as a red light goes on at the top of the light to let me know it will need to be charged. I would recommend to my friends.
