The headlight is very bright. The tail light is bright at night. However, I prefer the Bontrager Daytime running light for during the day as the tail light is not quite visible during the day. Also, the battery time for the tail light does not last as long. There are times when I am ready to ride at night and realized that my tail light was low in battery and it shut itself off while I was riding in the dark. There should be an indicator that show the % of battery time left.
My wife has had a lower lumen commuter model for 6 years and it has been robust, these seem on par with that design. They function well and seem to be high quality. Battery life is good but not heavily tested yet. Considering the 1100 lumen rating on the headlight, I am not overly impressed with the real world result. Comparing highest settings of this unit and my NiteRider 700, they are about the same in dark conditions. Perhaps this is just lens design, but I would consider that portion a mild disappointment.
