OK, watching the Jumbo Visma and Sunweb teams don this helmet may have heightened my interest, but I'd been looking to replace my Giro Synthe (non-MIPS) for a while anyway. Helmets are like shoes, great if they fit, lousy if they don't. The Lazer GP1 MIPS fits great - for me. It clears the top of my sunglasses by about 3/4", allowing for great ventilation (as opposed to the Giro, which sat on top of the sunglass frame). It does require adjusting the Rolsys device and sliding the non-locking strap yokes into place before each ride - a two second process that yields a stable, dialed-in fit. The straps are very light, easy to adjust to perfection and lay flat. The helmet is very well ventilated and very light. My medium weighs 260 grams - just 12 grams more than my very light, medium (non-MIPS) Giro Synthe. Price is very competitive with other top of the line helmets. And, it's a sleek, great looking lid.
I was worried that the large size wouldn't fit my big noggin, but it actually fits me great. Super lightweight design just sorta makes the helmet feel as if its disappears on my head - I hardly even notice its there.
I've worn Lazer helmets for years...this is #4 for me. Great fit. Stylish. Light. Good looking.
The only drawback is the buckle...on this model, it's rather stiff and difficult (especially with cold fingers) to undo. But otherwise, a great helmet.
Hey Lazer, fix the buckle!
I had to buy a new helmet after smashing my Giro Synthe on the right side twice. I was going to go with the Giro Aether, but then read the tests from Virginia Tech ( https://www.helmet.beam.vt.edu/bicycle-helmet-ratings.html ) where it is the top helmet out of 99 tested for concussion prevention (several places ahead of Giros). It also had really good reviews on YouTube.
Had my first ride in it today and it just blows the Synthe (non MIPS) away in terms of ventilation. That's really important to me. It fit really well and looks pretty good. So I'm very happy. The only one nitpick is the tightening system feels like it loosens too easily (no ratchet).
I can tell it sticks out a bit from my head, but I don't mind too much since that means more impact to the helmet and not my face. It is also super light and looks pretty cool (you can actually peel off the Lazer stickers if you want).
Anyway, I'm very picky and I am pleased with it! The Virgina Tech tests were really its best selling point for me.
I've been using this helmet all summer now - about 1000 miles. It's light and well ventilated and yet feels very secure and safe.
Lightweight (you forget it's there), doesn't block your vision so you can keep your head down more and still see without craning your neck, good range of adjustability so you can ride with headbands, etc. or without and it'll fit regardless, and it vents really well to keep air flowing on hot days. Only issue I have is that it doesn't have vents that are good for holding sunglasses. I've just started putting them behind my head under the helmet instead and that works too. This thing is by far my favorite helmet that I've tried.
We also use intercoms on our tandem, so a lightweight helmet is very nice. Lazer definitely cuts some frill to make this helmet so light and the only complaint we have is the buckle is a bit hard to operate.
If light is high on your list, this helmet is a great deal.
Love the orange color!
My Lazer z1 needed to be replaced and served me well. Decided to upgrade to the G1. Keep having to readjust during long rides as the rear of the helmet is causing some pain. Minimal difference in weight in size medium so I wish I had not switched.
I really want to like this helmet. Great fit. light weight and looks cool. Highly rated by the Va Tech Helmet Lab. Like a few other reviewers have pointed out, it is frustrating to unhook the clasp on this helmet. Suggest you try before you buy.
It is a nice, light helmet. The MIPS feature is a plus. The back head cradle retention system does loosen. I have noticed this in other Lazer helmets too. I find myself having to tighten it often during a ride.
These are a really light weight helmet and comfortable, don't care for the clasps, bought matching helmets for my wife and I and she has a real hard time getting the clasp to release, that I have to help on occasion.
I have purchased several and worn the Lazer Z1 road helmet for several years. I decided to
try the Lazer G1 MIPS helmet for a change. As soon as I took it out of the box, I could feel it was much lighter than the Z1. Fits very well (size small). Great looking riding on the road. I recommend it for your next road helmet.
Fits really comfortable and very light weight. Only negative is the fastener is hard to work,
Great buy as it was on sale.
I was looking for an alternative to my super safe, super bulbous, super ventilated Poc Ventral Air Spin. I read some reviews that the Lazer MIPS was not well ventilated. I ride in Houston and find it very comparable to the Poc. It is lighter weight and smaller form factor and near the top of the Va Tech rankings. Highly recommended.
Would like it a little more snug.
I like the weight and the ability to snap on the aeroshield. The only downside for me is my sunglasses don't quite stay docked well in the vents
Top safety rating per the Virginia Tech protocol.

Super comfortable and ventilated and high viz color.
Only downside is lack of forehead sun protection due to the large vents.
The only helmet I wear. I have 3 in different colors. Crashed once and the back of the helmet crumbled but my brain survived unscathed.
Comfortable, light and awesome looking
