Cat 1 masters racer peak power 1,400w. These shoes are very comfortable. The one thing I do not like about all lake shoes is the heel cup doesn't grab the heel well. The best I've found are specialized and Shimano to grab the heel tight around the Achilles with no slippage. My forefoot is 102mm wide and these have enough room to prevent any pain after 3h. With a non wide shoe I will get forefoot pain after about 2.5h from the shoe being narrow.
OK, so they are not cheap, but the fit is fantastic the comfort is extraordinary. The quality is great. What's not to like? I have been messing around with bigger narrow shoes, sidi mostly. Either I have to buy too large or suffer scrunched feet. For the too large I cannot get the cleat set properly. Right-sized and my feet are painful. Enter these Lake CX242 wides'great fit following Lake's on-line guide.
I would say that my feet are not wide at all, in fact, I have a narrow forefoot and a higher arch. These are just right so if you have wider feet you might want to go up to some of Lake's even wider shoes.
The ratchet on my SIDI road shoe broke and could not find a replacement. Plus they were old and needed to be replaced. Wanted a shoe that used a Boa closure system with no Velcro straps. Found the Lakes on the web site and there happened to be an open box pair just my size. The fit is perfect and very comfortable.
These provide the comfort and support for short and long rides. I've ridden an average of 350 mikes the last four weeks and the feet were in heaven for every mile- thank you
most comfortable cycling shoes I have ever owned.
Very comfortable road riding shoe for someone with wide feet.
