I like minimalist gloves for grip and protection as most padded gloves leave my hands numb. There are a few reinforced areas on the palm but that is all -- no padding. Knit back is cool and very soft. Palm is made of a tougher material that is still form-fitting to your palm. Extremely lightweight and comfortable. I do not feel the gloves at all when riding. Removal is aided by 'webbing' between middle fingers; it works well enough. Easier to remove than some other 'no velcro' gloves I own. Have only worn on a few rides so longevity is still an open question. I will say the comfort did it for me along with zero numbness after rides of 30, 40 miles. Told my family to order me more for Father's Day. I can wear medium gloves but lately opting for large, especially in European brands. The large fit me well with zero bunching, and no tightening around the fingers (average hands, 5' 10", medium bibs).
these are extremely thin in the palm. There is virtually no padding where in a fall the padding is the main safety advantage of wearing gloves.
I don't love bulky gloves. These are perfect, it's almost like they aren't there.
