I've been using fi'zik Microtex for at least 10 or 12 years. Even when I'm riding a ton, this stuff doesn't seem to care. It's comfortable, looks great, they don't skimp on how much they provide you with and there's several styles and many colors to ensure comfort and that it will complement your ride.
Highly recommend starting the wrap at the bar ends and finishing on top of the bars. The thickness of the tape will likely feel catchy and annoy you if you wrap it from the top towards the bar ends. I don't use the crap securing tape that Fi'zik supplies for keeping the tape from unrolling at the end of your wrap, it doesn't stick very well and will unravel. I use a turn of Gorilla tape andor black electrical tape to secure the end of the taping near the stem. That's my only criticism of this stuff.
I use this bar tape on all my road-style handlebars. It is easy to install, looks great, and is easy to clean. In my experience, it is also a longer lasting tape than traditional cork tapes. Comes in a variety of colors, including silver and metallic blue, that cork tapes can't offer. The Fizik tape is a little thinner than traditional tape, so if you're looking for extra padding, you might opt to put the Bike Ribbon Gel Pad under the wrap, or, for complete bar coverage, you can double-wrap your bars.
If you are searching for a bar tape that looks good and is long-lasting, this is the one for you.
This bar tape feels great! Much more elegant feeling than most traditional cork tapes. This tape is thinner than most cork tape with less padding. I personally like fairly thick tape, so I generally use an inexpensive cork tape, such as Selev cork ribbon, as a base layer and wrap the Fizik tape on top.
Tape is comfortable, durable and looks great
Pro
Price
Tough (no problems with ripping)
Included bar ends are a nice subdued black
Con
Little giveflexibility that would allow it to conform to compound curves without gaps
Not long enough for my application
The lack of perforations on the ends of the tape is puzzling and does not do anything for looks
Box said that it included two pieces to cover the brake hoods - only one was provided
Included finishing tape is covered with the Fizik name and looked tacky
Other information
I wrap using the traditional figure-8 around the brakes and this likely contributed to the length issue. I did not use the included finishing tape because of the issue mentioned above.
Not enough material to wrap 44cm handlebars. There is basically no padding.
Get the arundel bar tape instead.
I wanted a celeste-colored, leather-like tape for an old, steel bianchi and this is perfect. It's pretty easy to keep clean and not hard to wrap (though you need to put some muscle into it due to the lack of stretch), and it seems pretty durable. These aren't issues for me, but I don't find the tape to be particularly breathable and it definitely wouldn't be a great choice if you're hoping for some cushion.
awesome buy
I've used Fizik Bartape in the past with virtually no issue. I recently purchased the black logo'd bartape and it has a suede like feel. Easy to install and no concern on tears when stretching. After only a couple early season rides, hard to say how well it will hold up, but it looks cool and should easily get a full season of 3500 miles out of them. Fyi, the 2mm isn't very cushy if that is a concern.
Not as cheap as some of the wraps on the market but they last a long time and retain the good contact feel on your hands. Pair these with the gel pads under the wrap and you have a long lasting, comfortable wrap!
i went with blue. Matched my old steel frame exactly. the color in the photo is spot on. feels great in your hands. I have bull-horn handle bars (much shorter than drop) so i had plenty of excess tape to wrap the bars with a little more overlap than usual, which makes for great padding.
This tape is worthless crap. It is either a terrible design, poor quality or old stock. Either way, it cracked and tore during professional installation at a LBS. I will never ever again buy Fizik bar tape.
Very PRO indeed. If you ride a top machine, ride nothing less than Fizik Soft Touch!
Fear not, if you clean lightly with dish washing liquid and warm water this tape will maintain its' look and appearance for a long while. It also grips your gloves nicely in big rain,i.e., very non-slip.
Happy racing!!
Great tape if you like to FEEL the road. Very good on grip, white gets dirty pretty quick so choose your color carefully.
Never gets dirty. Tough as nails plus it look great
Nice looking bar tape, but not enough cushioning for me.
It is also hard to wrap , as it has very little cushioning.
Fizik makes lots of bar tape , so I am sure there is a model that would work for me.
I have noticed that Fizik's quality and aesthetics are top notch.
This is an okay foam-type bar tape. It's easy to stretch around the bars without tearing and produces good results. It's not remarkable and the logos (ordering mistake on my part) are a little much for me. I recently bought a bike with the Tacky Touch tape and much prefer it. Although not absorbent like the Microtex tape, it provides a better grip, even when my hands are sweaty.
Easy to apply, Very thin which is what I like in a bar wrap. This bar wrap is kinda slippery I would like to find a Thin bar wrap but with more of a grippy feel.
I've been using Fizik Tape for some time now. last forever and stays clean. Amazing!
This has been my favorite bar tape since it became available.
