Great tire for the money. I rode these tires hard for 1500 miles. Great performance and minimal flats. But once they're done, they're done. Just pulled the rear tire off this week as I had a slow leak in the tire. It was time to replace.
Totally disappointed.
holes in both front and back tire.
multiple flats. Riding on roads, highway, chip seal, etc.
I'm done with these after less than 100 miles.
Going back to Schawlbe Tires
A good tire for overall riding. Despite running a 28mm tire on a wide rim Roval 38, i need to run high pressure, the same as a 25mm conti of about 90PSI for me to get a good road feel without bouncing. A surprise for sure. The fault is it is not as round as i would like. I checked the beat seating and still it is a few millimeters out of round.
The reflective side wall on the 28mm width is very effective.
I had the same tires previously, liked the tires until sidewall blow out after around 400 miles. I had just come down a mountain pass at high speed and was on a slow section when the sidewall blew. Thought it was just an anomaly. Bought a new set. Started an easy ride on smooth roads, made about 4 miles before this one blew. Sidewall split the same as previous tire. These tires are dangerous. Will not trust these again.
I truly think these tires are worth the deal I received. Great price and a great product. Less punctures much greater traction and I love the reflective strips. I ride mostly at night, 10 miles to work and I like the durabilty. Thanks
I use the tire on a Trek One Series 1.5 bike. This is my daily training bike and I average 125 miles per week. GP 4000 S II tires really perform and wear well. I have use them ever since I place the first set on them. Excellent and responsive tires.
Ive used this tire before. It is durable. not prone to flats
I have been using these tires now for about 3 years and they are by far the most puncture proof tire out there! In 3 years I have only gotten 2 flats and that is only because I road over a bunch of glass (unavoidable unfortunately). I will continue to buy these tires indefinitely and am excited to try out the new 5000 series.
Easy to get on and handled really well in the rain
I put one of these on my front wheel for racing in CA to help swallow broken bits of our roads. They worked great. Of course you need to know the clearance of your bike. On my Reynolds rims these balloon to 29.2. Enjoy.
Responsive and durable tires are Continental, like everything and wouldn't buy other tires except Schwabel.
Very difficult to mount especially in cold weather. Tire developed a hop in it after only 800 miles of riding. Avoid Continental tires.
I find these tires to be very comfortable. Of course, that may be because I went from 25s to 28s. They seem to have great road traction also.
Used on a Trek Madone road bike which provides a softer feel but yet don't lose speed, in fact a faster tire at 28mm which has really been a pleasure to experience for an older rider. The cons are the tires softer ride doesn't withstand the hard longer miles another tire might hold a bit longer.
If you're looking for a lightweight grippy tire Conti 4000II s fits the bill. If you want a tire that can hold up to the road debris we all encounter not so much. Deep gauges from blue stone, sea shells (common in the asphalt of FLA), & other small sharp objects have rendered 2 tires useless in well under 1K miles.
The 700x25s are my go-to tire these days, especially with the great prices you can get now. Don't overlook the reflective version. I use them on my touring bike. At night with a headlamp on, they are incredibly bright. Helps me find my tent in the dark.
I really wanted to see if these tires were much better than gator skins or ultra sports or thickslicks. At the price point it finally became worth it to check it out. They are definitely a superior option to all above mentioned. They have enough puncture to have survived my neighborhood for the last month and that is a strong endorsment. Very much worth buying at the current price.
2000 miles plus Work well for me
This is a great tire for all around riding I also use gatorskins in the winter so when I put these on it makes the bike feel more lively. Funny thing is I dont seen to be able to notice a difference in punctures between these and the heavier continental model.
The rubber compound is so sticky the tires pick up small rocks, which you have to listen to as you ride along. With latex tubes, I never experienced a slow flat with these tires, only blow outs that required patching the tire in order to keep using. Riding 150 miles a week, four tires lasted an average of five weeks each, when I gave up and changed to a different tire. The 4000 is annoying, unreliable and time-consuming to keep rolling.
