I was a tried-and-true Grand Prix 4 seasons Tire user for over 10 years. But this summer I decided to put some 25 mm 4000s's on my zip 303 s for a summer trip up to Breckenridge Colorado. I was afraid I would experience more Flats. But I knew going from 23mm to 25mm width, Plus lighter weight, less tread, and using 10lbs. less tire pressure, would add up to less rolling resistance. Which would make my climbing over all the major passes much more enjoyable. And guess what,, it DID!
Even back here in Tucson on some of the chewed up, debris ridden roads, I don't think I've yet to change a flat on a ride.
Until proven otherwise, I'm totally sold on the 4000s. Especially when used on the 25mm width newer carbon fiber wider rims (Zipp,Enve). The ride feels extremely comfortable. Definitely worth trying.
I like the rolling resistance, very fast
However, when new they are a bit slick
Great tire. Rolls amazing. Smooth, fast. So far durability feels solid. Bought another set when they went on sale.
I have Conti GP 4000 S on several bikes. They are my go-to tires for my rain bike, road racing bikes and tandem. I have used them in 23, 25, and 28mm widths. I have long loved the feel, traction and durability of these tires. Puncture resistance seems really good, too. The only improvement I could think of is for Conti to make a tubeless version available!
The Continental Grand Prix 4000 S II 700c Road Tire is the longest lasting road tire with the best puncture protection I have used. I have been using these tires for the last 6 years and I usually get 4 to 5 thousand miles on a set with rotating them every 1000 miles. I get the least amount of cuts then any other tire I have used in these tires.
Ridden this tire from April till October over 1000 miles. 220 lbs rider averaging 16 mph in hilly riding. Will switch frt to rear and add tire sealant to get another 500-1000 miles on the old ones. Then mounting the the ones I just bought for another 2000. Found running 100 lbs frt and rear for my climbing days and 85 frt90 rear for long days.
Used on my road bike, I usually get close to 2500 miles before replacing
The best durable tires I have ever used. I buy a new set every winter and use all year. 4200 miles last year. Not 1 flat. Also low road resistance.
My loyalty to Continental GP4000S II continues because the company is providing a good product that they also seek to improve. I have enjoyed these tires for for many years. I continue to research other types but my personal experience keeps me choosing that which I trust.
Love the tire , low roll resistance and long wear . supple as well .
Fast tire!!
My favorite tires... their performance is good enough for road races, and this is paired with puncture resistance as good as some of the clunker tires like gatorskins. FYIW for anyone considering 25s vs 23s, I switched to 25s a few years ago and have never looked back!
These tires are the gold standard in road tires. A handful might be lighter, faster or less expensive but youd be hard pressed to find all three. They setup easily on my wide rims and I run them at a low psi for a fast and comfortable ride. Theyre sturdy enough for crushed limestone and the early season potholes in Minnesota.
These are really great tires. I bought them as a spare set because the price was half off the regular price due to it being the off season.
Smooth supple and Easley last up to three to four thousand miles
Whats to say - great deal on a great set of tires. Comfortable, fast, low (few) pinch flats compared to everything else Ive ridden.
Tire wears very nicely, I feel very safe on these tires on my high end bicycle
Super Fast Tire, great grip, compliant ride, super durable. Wow, you never get all those things in one tire...that should tell you how great these are. Im converted, call me a super fan! Just but them!
fast and durable , used for training and racing
I have settled on the GP4000sII as an excellent tradeoff between road control versus wear. On occasion you will find them in sale in the mid to high 30 dollar range which is an excellent value. Decent rolling resistance for racing but also very comfortable for touring. I get very few flats when running these with standard tubes.
