I've tried most brands over the years but the wool blend Castellis have always been my favorites. The thickness and stretch seem ideal to me and they are good in cool to warm weather and very comfortable. I wear 45 Sidi megas and the L/XL size are a perfect fit for me. Highly recommend these socks.
I bought one pair of these and then went back and bought 3 more. Absolutely love them. They keep my feet warm and DRY which is key on cold days. They're obviously thicker than normal riding socks but not bulky so they'll still fit in your riding shoes as long as you have a little wiggle room to start with. With a warm pair of shoe covers, I'm good with regular road shoes down to 30 without any issues. They're so comfortable, I wear them when I'm not on the bike too.
As I get older my quest to continue cycling outside as the weather gets colder gets more involved. I found these socks to be what I was looking for. For the price they are great standing alone. I have found that I put my shoe covers on a little later than my last socks. These socks are worth the money and they keep my toes warm
Used them yesterday on a cold, raw, damp New England day(48') Had toe warmers on and my feet did not get cold.
Have worn them cycling and in town hikes, very nice socks overall. Fit could be slightly better. They have great temperature range and fit well within both winter cycling boots and summer cycling shoes.

You pay a premium for Castelli, even on sale, but these are great socks. The merino wool is comfortable in a wide range of weather. They are quite durable.

Perfect for cold weather rides
This is my second pair of Castelli Men's Quindici Soft Merino Socks, and I couldn't recommend them more highly. They are soft and warm and work beautifully for all but the bitterest cold days. I have a lot of winter socks and these are far and away the most comfortable. People underestimate the importance of high quality footwear, and I am totally on the bandwagon for this sock.

These are just your Basic Medium Weight Wool socks. Warmer than you might expect, look sharp, wool so they don't too stinky. A solid pair of socks, no surprises.
