First time use I criticized this short. By the third use I loved it. Comfort is great. In my closet I have several PI Pros.
I use Millie for short rides, long rides, hilly rides and it exceeds the PI Pro.
It feels to comfortable to be as top drawer as it is. I highly recommend these shorts.
At first I did not these shorts. Buy the third ride they became my go to shorts.
I have several pair of PI Pro but I prefer the Assos. Much more comfortable yet plenty of leg firmness for hills or longer rides. Give them a try. They are worth the price.
Like other reviewers, I did not like these shorts on the first few rides. The chamois edges can bunch or crease and cause some chafing. I decided to start using and hand washing every day, hoping to soften up the chamois material around the edges a bit. This has worked great for me. They are a very comfortable fit now, especially after 75 rides and washings. Just take a little extra time to get the chamois edges fit around the inner legs and groin without pinching folds and you're all set for a long, comfortable ride.
Overall these a pretty good short and a decent value when on sale. The legs fit well and stay in place. Chamois is pretty good for long distance rides so long as you have a decently cushioned saddle, on a spartan one you'll get discomfort. The chamois could be a bit better in the perineum area.
Where I find these fall a little short is the upper portion above the waistline. I like the concept of the quasi-bib design, but I find that it doesn't stay in place well at all and rolls down even more than traditional-waist shorts in the front when bent at the waist, and the backside portion slips a bit too. I think they could make this have more cinch around the stomach/mid-section with some judiciously placed elastic panels without being constrictive and the concept would work much better.
Assos makes the best shorts. Very comfortable for long rides.. No more saddle sores. I like these shorts so much that I bought a second pair!
This is the first Assos shorts that I have tried and found that they are very comfortable. They have a nice padding and I can ride for hours without any discomfort. The chamois is not tapered at the edges and I was worried that it was going to bunch up in the groin area, but when you are riding, I don't notice any overlapping or discomfort. I used to use Castelli shorts and liked their padding, but over the years their brand seems to get tighter and tighter. I am definitely switching over to Assos, and just purchased a Mille bib short.
The most comfy for long rides though rarely I experienced a little chafing from the edge of the chamois which resolved with a small adjustment. The hems so far are tight which is important when worn with leg warmers so these dont slip down.
