Butter up.
During a sailing and cycling trip from Germany to California, Jeff Boggess stopped in the Ozark Mountains Arkansas to consolidate his array of half-full containers of nuts, fruits, and other snacks to free up space in his panniers. The resulting amalgam of whole foods was a delicious and nutritionally-dense fuel that helped him complete his journey home where he and his brother Brad continued to perfect this new food concoction into what they now call Trail Butter.
This smooth, nut-based blend starts with an almond and hazelnut foundation for long-lasting energy, while additional dried fruits, seeds, nectar, honey, and oils provide additional nutrition and flavor. It can be eaten on its own or spread on crackers, bread, fruit, or whatever else the imagination or situation calls for to make an all-natural and wholesome way to keep fueled up for your most daring adventures.
Sold as one 4.5 oz pouch. (About 4 servings per pouch.)

Food Type: Gel |
I tried the chocolate coffee flavor and was blown away at how good it was. This is a heavier gel, so I took it in small doses even though I wanted to down the whole pouch at once. Drink plenty of water with it and get plenty of energy out of it. This will be a staple source of calories on my long rides.
In a perfect world, the ingredients would be organic. That is the only thing keeping me from a 5-star rating. They taste great and a great alternative to sweet bars, gels, and chews on a ride. I see they are now coming in larger containers so one can use their own container and cut down on the waste. Awesome!
Understand you only get one pouch for $5.99. While this is clear in the description, the photo is misleading. I had the Dark Chocolate and the Maple and they were both delicious. I came back to buy more, but cannot justify this price.
