Rise from the ashes.

With the Garmin Fenix 5 Sapphire GPS Watch, you can rise up and beat yesterday's performance time and time again. Chock full of performance features that can stand up to whatever activity you've got planned, this GPS watch will track your runs, rides or hikes in style thanks to the interchangeable bands.

Starting with the modest 47mm backlit face, the stainless steel body doesn't dominate your wrist but is easily readable in all light conditions. The large 240x240 pixel 64-color customizable display allows you to tweak nearly every element, from the data fields to colors and more. Download apps and 3rd party faces to truly personalize the watch to meet your needs.

Inside the stainless steel body, the GPS and GLONASS dual navigation networks allow for precise tracking of your performance, even when you're out on the edge of civilization. In addition to monitoring your steps and sleep, the wrist-based Elevate technology allows you to monitor your heart rate at any point in your day without having to wear a chest strap. Furthering the level of precision, the onboard barometric altimeter and 3-axis compass with gyroscope make this the most precise version to date. Unique to the Sapphire models, this version of the Fenix 5 also has onboard WiFi connectivity, meaning you can transmit and receive data wirelessly.

The Fenix 5 Sapphire GPS comes in 3 different sizes: the smaller 42mm Fenix 5S Sapphire, this 47mm Fenix 5 Sapphire, and the larger 52mm Fenix 5x Sapphire watch.

This Fenix 5 Sapphire GPS is also available as the Performer Bundle, including the HRM Tri™ heart rate monitor and an extra QuickFit™ 22 band.

My first activity tracking watch - love it!

Before Garmin release the Fenix 5, I was using my Garmin Edge 1000 to track my metrics for cardio, weight training and running exercise. I didn't want to purchase the Fitbit Surge, Fitbit Blaze, Garmin Vivoactive or Garmin Fenix 3 since these watches are either too sporty to wear for work or going out for night life. Yes, both the Blaze and Fenix 3 have more dressier bands you can swap but it is a cumbersome process.

The Fenix 5 Sapphire solve all that. I love the quick release tab which allow you to quickly change from a sporty rubber band to a dressier metal band. The HRM optical sensor works great as I have not have any issues some users are having with Vivoactive. It has as much feature on this watch as my Edge 1000 far as tracking metrics like HR, cadence sensor pairing, smartphone pairing, temperature reading, barometer reading, altimeter reading, compass, steps tracking, flights of stairs tracking, weather and so much more.

Yes, the sapphire model cost a lot more the the base model(not the base model is low price). But the way I see it, i would pay just as much for a fancy dress watch like Tag Heuer, Citizen Eco Drive, Mavado or Oakley which don't do anything close to the Fenix 5 Sapphire.

The Fenix 5 is a multi-functional timepiece, with numerous capabilities.

I found that the Fenix 5 has so many functions that it is hard to utilize them, The Quick Start Manual is nearly useless, except to identify each button's functions. The best way to familiarize yourself with the device is to watch online videos, posted by some users. It is not a user friendly device, where one can intuitively scroll through the menus and access the functions. I have yet to be able to utilize many of the functions I hoped to when I purchased it, like tracking cycling and skiing distance and elevation recordings. For now, it's a great timepiece, with a clear crisp display.
