Middle of the road, but not middle of the pack.
Representing the middle of the Fi'zi:k saddle line, the Antares R1 saddle outperforms the competition and weighs in at just 160g. Taking the same versatile Antares shape that uses features from the ever-popular Arione and Aliante models, this version sheds weight and stiffens up, skimming the top off those bumps and buzzes that sap away at your strength.
In order to deliver a high-performance saddle that cuts weight off of the already lightweight budget-priced R3, Fi'zi:k chose to use a composite carbon shell and carbon braided rails. While the obvious advantage of this is a lighter weight saddle, the hidden benefit is a saddle that helps to skim the worst of the buzzes and the bumps off your ride, reducing the amount of fatigue your body gets. Of course, all of the Antares saddles feature redesigned Wing-Flex sections to increase the flexibility throughout the saddle, specifically at the thighs.
TThe Fizik Antares R1 Saddle is available in two sizes: Regular: 275x141 mm and 160g. Large: 275x152 mm and 165g.

Got a new bike with a stock saddle, which I hated. I usually ride a different brand of saddle, but several riding friends recommended the Antares. Very comfortable ride, pretty much disappears under my butt! Length and width seem perfect for me. I'm 6'3", 200 lbs.
I like being able to move around on the saddle and The Antares R1 makes it possible, while being gentle on the taint, and the carbon rails dampen the vibrations from our local chip & seal, even on my 22 year IF titanium.
This is my second Antares, the first one was before they had the wing-flex and I thought I would give that a try. My first one had a hard edge after a few hours on the saddle, so far this one is better. The cover material on this has a bit more grip to it than my first one, but you can still move around on the saddle when you want to. Nice shell and nice rails equal a nice light saddle.
Got this to replace the stock seat on my Focus race bike. Feels about the same, but looks way cooler. Have not owned long enough to speak about the quality, but good so far...
