Easton's bombproof high-performance EA90 SL wheelset returns with upgrades: now fully tubeless compatible, with a reworked and improved hub and rim. The perfect choice for high mileage riders and demanding events.
Let's start from the outside: the EA90 rim measures a full 22mm wide from edge to edge, with an internal width of 17.5mm. This makes for a more efficient contact patch when paired with tires from 23mm to 32mm wide, with more rubber against the road and less bulging out the sides of your rims. With a 25mm-deep v-shaped profile, these rims won't weigh you down but are still just aero enough to cut through the wind. Proprietary EA90 aluminum is Easton's lightest performance alloy, well-tested in all of their highest-performance components. Welded seam construction adds strength.
Sapim double butted straight pull spokes connect the rim to the hub, for a wheel with proven strength and low weight. The front wheel has 20 radially-laced spokes, and the rear wheel has 24, laced one-cross on the non-drive side and two-cross on the drive side.
The hubset is a new Easton innovation; they call it the Echo. Based on extensive R&D and previous customer experience, these new hubs help create a wheel that's even stronger and stiffer than previous versions. Easton has long used smooth and easy-to-maintain Enduro cartridge bearings in their hubs; the new Echo shell allows these same bearings to the placed closer to the ends of the axle. The resulting ultra-wide stance increases strength and stiffness and eliminates adjustment issues. In addition, the hub body has been beefed up, with taller flanges for even more strength and rigidity. And lastly, the "Reverse Drive" redesigned freehub mechanism attaches individually sprung pawls to the hub shell and places the drive ring inside the cassette body, for improved engagement and efficiency when you're hammering.
Compatible with Shimano/SRAM 8/9/10- and 11-speed cassettes, right out of the box. A Campagnolo 9/10/11-speed compatible version is also available. Claimed weight: 1580 grams. Black.

Ride about 4,500 miles per year. Have been sent back to factory not once, but twice! Problems continue and have now broken 13 spokes on the rear wheel. I only wish the warranty would have included a money back guarantee cause I would've taken the money and run.... or rode away on different wheels. After 3 years of frustration, I purchased the HED Jet 6 wheels. Faster and NO broken spokes and not even a flat in over 6,000 miles!
